Whether you’re hosting a house party, a team lunch, or simply gathering with loved ones, GrabFood offers a variety of tools to support get-togethers.

Here’s a round-up of all the features you need to know to simplify planning meals for your next social gathering. Plus, bonus tips to celebrate birthdays, milestones, and holidays with your loved ones—even when you can’t be there in-person.

1. Use scheduled delivery

Plan ahead for your house party by selecting a preferred delivery slot in advance. This allows you to have greater control over the delivery fee you are comfortable with and avoid unexpected fee hikes when demand is high.

During peak hours, prices for food deliveries surge as more people in your area start placing orders. Planning your deliveries ahead of time can help you beat the rush hour.

Under “Contactless Delivery”, you’ll find a range of options for scheduled delivery up to several days in advance, depending on the merchant. Select your preferred timing and delivery fee and await your meal.

2. Split the bill easily with Group Order

Ordering food for an office lunch or family gathering can be a hassle, especially if you have to coordinate orders for a large group.

Group Order allows multiple people to add food items into a shared cart. This eliminates the burden of one person having to manage orders for everyone.

All you have to do is to share a link or QR code with your friends and colleagues, inviting them to add items to an order. Everyone in the group can track the order and get a breakdown of the cost based on what each person has ordered. If you prefer, you can also choose to split the bill equally among everyone in the group.

3. Save when you eat out with Dine-in deals

The next time you are heading out for a meal with friends or family, don’t forget to check out Grab’s dine-in feature that allows you to discover discounted vouchers through the app, and redeem them at restaurants.

This was introduced to provide more affordable ways to eat out at your favourite joints, while also giving you the opportunity to discover new F&B outlets.

Users can get merchant details at a glance and purchase discounted vouchers from their favourite restaurants.

The dine-in option appears next to the delivery and pickup options across the top of the GrabFood app in select cities across Southeast Asia. From there, you can filter options based on your preferences. You can also browse the menus and read reviews before making a decision.

4. Share a meal with loved ones overseas

If you have loved ones overseas, Grab’s 100+ Cities Delivery is an easy way to let them know you care. Order a birthday feast or send a care package by entering your recipient’s address, browsing Food and Mart options near them, and placing your order.

This feature is available in over 100 cities across Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

5. Not sure what to send to your loved ones? Try GrabGifts vouchers.

Treating your loved ones to a surprise meal can be tough—you can’t be sure what they’re in the mood to eat, or if they’re home to receive the delivery. Take the guesswork out by sending a GrabGifts voucher instead.

You can also send GrabGifts to recipients abroad.

You take the fuss out of gifting, while your recipient gets to pick exactly what they want to eat. Choose from a range of gift values and select up to three different ways your recipient can use the vouchers.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
