That’s why we created the Driver AI Assistant, an always-available smart companion designed to work as hard as they do. The assistant makes life on the road smoother for our partners, which ultimately creates a more reliable and efficient experience for the entire Grab ecosystem.
The assistant is there to help with common issues. For example, a driver might ask “A passenger left their bag in the car, what should I do now?” The assistant will instantly offer a helpful response that’s simple to follow.
However, it is much more than a troubleshooting tool.
In fact, we found that the vast majority of drivers use the assistant as a performance coach. Most of the messages are focused on work optimisation. Drivers might ask about strategies to get more orders, analyse their past performance, or inquire about a new feature.
Rather than a place for complaints, it has become a self-improvement platform.
The Driver AI Assistant is built on a powerful, data-driven architecture that understands the unique flow of our driver-partner’s day. It’s context-aware, meaning it doesn’t just give generic advice—it gives the right information based on the driver-partner’s specific history and current location.
The Driver AI Assistant is available to our driver-partners in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. It is always reachable, and driver-partners can type their queries or speak to the Assistant, which helps them stay focused on the road. For example, they can use voice to ask for assistance with an urgent task, like sending their passengers a quick message.
In just two months since roll-out, we’ve seen over 1.24 million messages from drivers-partners to the Driver AI Assistant. This tool isn’t just a luxury—it’s turning into an essential companion for our driver-partners.
By empowering our drivers with real-time data and instant support, we’re ensuring that every journey on the Grab platform is smarter, safer, and more rewarding for everyone.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.
As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.
Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
