FAQs

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

For more questions, please visit our Help Centre.

  • Why should I verify my identity?

GrabPay is regulated as a major payment institution by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). In accordance with MAS regulations, GrabPay is required to impose wallet and transaction limits on GrabPay’s e-money account as well as perform customer identity verification measures.

By knowing the identity behind each GrabPay wallet user, we’re able to create a secure payments platform for everyone that can mitigate the risks of fraud, identity theft, money laundering, and other illicit activities. This identification process is also known as KYC (“Know Your Customer”).

As a fully verified user, your wallet balance limit at any given time is increased from SGD$1,000 to $5,000. To verify your wallet, simply complete the customer identification process by submitting your identification document to us. It’s simple; follow the steps here.

  • Is my information safe with Grab?

Yes, your identification documents submitted for the purposes of Customer Identification will be stored, used and processed in accordance with the Grab Privacy Policy, which complies with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act.

Rest assured that documents are collected securely for the purposes of identifying and verifying our users to meet our obligations in combating money laundering and terrorism financing activities.

  • I’ve accidentally shared my card information or OTP with a stranger. What should I do?

If you have shared your credit/debit card information with a suspected fraudster, please block your card immediately by contacting your bank or through the Grab app for GrabPay MasterCard and lodge a police report for further investigation.

If you have shared your Grab app login credentials or suspect any irregular activities/charges on or from your account, please reset your password or GrabPIN and report it immediately to us here.

  • There is an unrecognized activity or transaction in my Grab account. What should I do?

Grab keeps your personal data and information safe and secure. If you do not recognize a transaction in your account, we recommend reviewing all the details first or checking with family and friends who may also have access to your Grab account to see if they initiated the transaction.

What may be considered as suspicious activities on your Grab account?

    • A booking (e.g. GrabCar, GrabFood, GrabExpress) requested without your permission and your card was deducted for this.
    • You received an email notifying that your email address was changed without you requesting for it.
    • You received an email requesting your GrabPay information or other sensitive credentials.
    • Your GrabRewards points were used to purchase a reward without your consent.
    • Your GrabPay Wallet was deducted for an unauthorized transfer or purchase.

Let us know here if you noticed any suspicious activity or transaction in your account which you did not authorize and we will investigate this further.

Komsan Chiyadis

GrabFood delivery-partner, Thailand

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
