Kuala Lumpur, 30 April 2018 – PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) and Grab Malaysia today launched the Grab Driver Pit Stop, an area for Grab driver partners to rest and refresh before continuing on their journey.
This initiative is part of PETRONAS Dagangan and Grab’s strategic partnership to continue to make driving more rewarding for Grab Driver Partners and help alleviate the cost of driving.
The Grab Driver Pit Stop which will officially open its doors on May 2, 2018, is the first of its kind exclusive lounge that will not only serve as a comfortable place for all drivers to recharge themselves, but also enjoy complimentary Mesra mineral water or hot coffee for every RM50 purchase of fuel, as well as other special offers.
The first phase of the project will see 58 Grab Driver Pit Stops being rolled out in selected states across the country, out of which five selected outlets will be fully-furnished with an exclusive seating area to provide drivers with added comfort and convenience.
Speaking at the launch PDB’s Head of Retail Business, Aadrin Azly said, “We are very excited to work with Grab in creating this unique experience for the Grab drivers, who often had to drive long hours. The Grab Driver Pit Stop is an ideal place for the drivers to rest and freshen themselves, in line with our emphasis on road safety and danger of microsleeping.”
“The initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our value offerings to Grab, which also includes special incentives, discounts and loyalty programme. We want all Grab driver partners to know that only at PETRONAS will they get the greatest value, service and product,” he added.
Echoing Aadrin’s comments, Sean Goh, Country Head of Grab Malaysia also expressed excitement in continuing the strategic alliance with PDB for the benefit of their Grab Driver Partners. “Our drivers play a huge role in helping us serve our customers, and we, as an organisation are conscious of our mission and role to help improve their welfare and make their job better, sustainable and rewarding, 365 days of the year. As such, we are humbled to continue working with PETRONAS who share the same passion to do just that!” said Goh.
As a partner to PDB, Grab driver partners will also enjoy attractive fuel rebates of up to RM22 monthly via the Fuel Savers Programme. The programme which was previously applicable to selected top performing drivers only is now also extended to Silver, Gold and Platinum drivers in the GrabAllStars Programme.
In addition, all top performing Grab Driver Partners who are entitled to receive the exclusive Kad Mesra Grab can now enjoy 6x Mesra points (previously 5x) per litre fueled, the highest point earnings offered in the industry. The points can be used to redeem fuel or other items from Kedai Mesra.
Goh went on to add that such benefits offered by PDB goes a long way to not only reduce the cost of driving and increase drivers’ savings but most importantly, a motivating force as their service is appreciated and validated.
Over and above this, all Grab driver partners who are registered Mesra card members will automatically get one-month free Mesra Personal Accident (PA) benefit, which provides the member Accidental Hospital and Death benefits of up to RM50,000 via the Axxess programme. Members can opt to continue the subscription at only RM1 (100 Mesra points) monthly, when they spend a minimum of RM100 per month at any PETRONAS stations nationwide.
The five fully-furnished outlets are now operational at PETRONAS Station (PS) Mutiara Damannsara, PS Jalan Jelatek 2, PS KLIA2, PS East West Link & PS Sprint Highway. By end of 2018, it is targeted the fully-furnished Grab Driver Pit Stop will be available in every city Grab is also present in.
