New updates from GrabRewards

With restricted movement and social distancing guidelines in place, we understand that there’ll be many limitations.

To help provide flexibility and ease of mind to all our GrabRewards members during this challenging time, we’ll be temporarily adjusting our policies as follows:


  • GrabRewards tier status – The tier status for all GrabRewards members will be extended to 31 December 2020 and there will be no tier downgrades during this period.

    Note: The qualifying period between 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2020 will determine your tier status for the first half of 2021.

  • Reward vouchers – The validity for all Grab food and ride reward vouchers^ redeemed from GrabRewards catalogue will be extended to 31 December 2020.
  • ^Note: The voucher extension does not apply to all Grab vouchers (ride, food, mart and express vouchers) purchased from gifts.grab.com and marketplaces (e.g Shopee, Lazada, etc.), or vouchers received from corporate purchases and marketing campaigns via Grab for Business or GrabAds.

We also urge all our members to do their part by complying with health guidelines and social distancing, and to practise good personal hygiene.

Going cashless is more rewarding

Starting today (16 March 2020), Grab will only award GrabRewards points for cashless transactions as announced on 20 January 2020. Switch to GrabPay and join the cashless revolution now to continue earning the same GrabRewards Points.

Thank you to all who joined the cashless revolution in support of the government’s e-Tunai Rakyat programme and enjoyed our extended year end bonus which ended yesterday 15 March 2020. Now, every RM1 on GrabPay Wallet earns up to 3x GrabRewards points, as illustrated below.

Effective on 2 December 2019, all bill payment transactions will no longer be eligible for GrabRewards points.

Postponement to GrabRewards catalogue update

On 16 March 2020, GrabRewards announced an upcoming GrabRewards Super Sale and new catalogue. Both were set to begin on 23 March 2020.

In light of movement control order, Grab will be postponing upcoming GrabRewards Super Sale and new catalogue to when all members are able to fully enjoy them.

For now, the GrabRewards Super Sale and the revision of points required for redemption of GrabFood, Grab rides & partner rewards remain unchanged until further notice.

Make one Grab transaction*
to keep your points alive

We’ve updated the GrabRewards Points expiry policy that enables you to keep your points as long as you keep using Grab! All you need to do is make one Grab transaction* every month to extend your points validity period.

How does it work?

Upon making a transaction, your GrabRewards Points are valid for 3 months: the points validity period ends on the last day of the 3rd month.


Making multiple transactions in the same month does not impact your points expiry date.

i.e. Adam makes a transaction on 10 Jan, his points expiry date is 30 April — three months from the month of his last transaction.

Adam then makes a transaction on 28 Feb, his points expiry period is shifted by one month to 31 May.

In support of the Ministry of Finance’s effort to promote the usage of e-wallets in the country through the e-Tunai Rakyat initiative,  we have revised our GrabRewards policy effective 16 March 2020. As a result, Grab will stop issuing points on cash payments for all Grab transactions. 



You may navigate to your “Account” > “Membership Info” > “How do I Earn GrabRewards Points?” in-app page or the GrabRewards website for more details on the revised points earning rates.

No, you will not be charged the difference between the new and previous catalogue price. However, if you purchase the item again after the revised catalogue price takes effect, you will have to redeem the item for the new catalogue price.

You can find the information regarding multiplier points either in your Grab app. Navigate to your “Account” > “Membership Info” > “How do I Earn GrabRewards Points?” You can also find more information on the GrabRewards website.

You’re automatically included as a GrabRewards member so long as you have made a Grab transaction. There are 4 member tiers (Member, Silver, Gold and Platinum), which you will achieve once you accumulate the number of points needed for each tier. Depending on your tier status, you will be entitled to a host of exclusive benefits.

Your benefits may include discounts, priority services and partner exclusives. You can refer to this table for the number of GrabRewards points needed to reach the next member tier, as well as your benefits.

As long as you accumulate the number of points needed to meet your GrabRewards tier within the first 6-month period – between 1 January and 30 June; or between 1 July and 31 December – you will continue to maintain your tier status for the next 6-month period.

If you get downgraded from your current member tier, you’ll no longer have access to all the previous benefits, associated with your higher GrabRewards member tier.

Of course, the easiest way to prevent this from happening is to use Grab more and accumulate enough GrabRewards points to maintain your member tier. Learn how to earn more GrabRewards points here

Exclusive Grab vouchers will be sent to you from time to time, please check the My Rewards page in your Grab app to avoid missing out on these vouchers.

Unfortunately, your GrabRewards membership and Booking.com Genius membership are non-transferrable. Your Booking.com Genius membership is a benefit linked to your GrabRewards member tier.

Not all Grab transactions do. Grab transactions that do not extend your GrabRewards points validity period are: GrabExpress (Same Day Delivery) transaction, peer-to-peer GrabPay credit transfer, GrabPay Credit wallet top-up, Grab Subscription purchase or renewal, GrabRewards points redemption.
