Beyond Southeast Asia, you can now book a ride in Japan and many cities in the Middle East via the Grab app. Grab now offers you the ability to book a ride from other 3rd-party ride hailing companies such as JapanTaxi and Careem when you travel abroad. We are working hard to expand this list of countries.
You will be quoted and charged in your home currency (the currency of your GrabPay Wallet). If you have more than one GrabPay Wallet in multiple currencies, we will charge the currency of the Wallet based on your Grab registered number.
At the moment, we offer rides on JapanTaxi and Careem, operational in Japan and the Middle East.
Before you travel, you will need to set up and verify your GrabPay Wallet. Remember to top up sufficient balance to your GrabPay Wallet and you’ll be able to pay for your rides abroad seamlessly!

A pre-authorisation amount of up to 1.5X your ride fare will be charged upon booking the ride. Any excess amount on top of your final ride cost, will be released back into your GrabPay Wallet.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.
As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.
Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
