Grab Singapore launches #MoreWomenCan to champion equity, with industry-first motherhood and health benefits
Grab’s new programme addresses barriers to autonomy for women partners, as study reveals 71% feel more financially independent after joining the platform
24 March 2026, SINGAPORE – Grab Singapore today announced the launch of #MoreWomenCan, a holistic support programme co-created with Grab’s community of women partners to strengthen their livelihoods in the digital economy. The programme marks a strategic shift to meaningful equity, contributing to the shared national goal of building a more inclusive workforce.
A new study by the UN Global Compact Network Singapore (UNGCNS), Kantar and Grab, reveals that for women partners, platform work is a vital tool for autonomy. Among those who have joined, 71% feel more financially independent, and 77% feel more confident in their ability to earn and support themselves.
“At Grab, we believe the digital economy is at its most powerful when it is truly inclusive. Reflecting the national focus on building a more supportive society, we are moving beyond equal access to deliver meaningful equity,” said Alejandro Osorio, Managing Director of Grab Singapore. “By providing targeted support for security and pivotal life stages like motherhood, we are ensuring every woman on our platform can thrive on her own terms. As Singapore evolves its vision for a more inclusive society, Grab is ensuring our platform remains a supportive and equitable space for those balancing work with caregiving responsibilities.”
#MoreWomenCan: A commitment to equity through three pillars
The #MoreWomenCan programme focuses on three strategic pillars designed to address the specific needs of women:
#MoreWomenCan stay healthy and protected
With 60% of current women partners in Singapore reporting an improved quality of life since joining the platform, Grab is taking a proactive stance on health as a fundamental pillar of long-term success. Potential harassment from passengers also remains a top barrier for prospective women partners (71%). Grab is responding with:
- *New* Proactive health equity (industry-first): Recognising the health needs of women, Grab will offer fully subsidised mammograms for all women partners. This is provided in addition to the standard suite of GrabBenefits available to all Grab partners.
- In-app security: Opt-in features including ‘Women Passengers Preferred’ that prioritises matches with women passengers for added comfort, ‘AudioProtect’ that captures encrypted audio during tides to provide an objective record for potential investigations, as well as other features such as passenger selfie verification, ‘share live location’, and emergency SOS button.
#MoreWomenCan drive with pride
With 54% of women partners in Singapore citing sociocultural factors leading to a lack of confidence in their skills as a barrier to entry, Grab is providing community-led support to foster professional resilience and celebrate the 77% of women partners who feel proud of their vocation:
- Mentorship programme: A formal network of pairing veteran women partners with new joiners to provide guidance, confidence-building, and a professional sounding board.
- Engagement events: A new calendar of dedicated women-only activities designed to foster the peer-to-peer camaraderie essential for mental and emotional resilience.
- Challenging industry stereotypes: A campaign sharing the real-life experiences of women partners, to dismantle societal misconceptions that discourage women from joining the industry.
#MoreWomenCan protect their progress
To support the 53% of women partners who prioritise flexibility in order to balance their professional and personal responsibilities, Grab is introducing industry-first protections to ensure that motherhood does not force a “reset” on their professional or financial progress:
- *New* Protecting livelihoods during the transition to motherhood: In an industry-first move, Grab has secured a landmark agreement with GrabRentals, GrabCab, and 12 of its Recommended Fleet Partners to allow expectant mothers to conclude rental agreements early with zero financial penalties. This ensures that a wide network of women partners can remove rental liabilities during their time away to focus on their newborns. Additionally, GrabRentals and GrabCar are providing seven free rental days for women partners who rejoin within six months, after the birth of their child.
- *New* Ensuring livelihood continuity for new mothers: To ensure performance milestones are not lost, Grab will maintain a woman partner’s Emerald Circle tier for up to 15 months (9 months of pregnancy, plus 6 months after birth). This allows new mothers to return to the platform on their own timeline and resume earning at their full potential immediately.
“As a woman driver, the support that me and my peers need at work can be quite different. We put greater emphasis on the importance of security, livelihood continuity and peer support to help us navigate challenges and changes in life stages. I’m delighted that Grab took in my feedback when developing its maternity and health benefits for women partners. The new benefits are a great start and I hope to see the programme being expanded to support more areas of our lives in the future,” said Grab driver-partner, Nur Ain Sofiah Binte Shaharuddin.
