Grab Emerald Circle Scholarships & Bursaries reach over 3,000 families with 10 new scholarships
This year, Grab awarded 10 bond-free university scholarships of up to S$15,000 each to children of driver- and delivery-partners in Singapore.
Singapore, 8 July 2026 – Grab Singapore today awarded the 2026 Emerald Circle Scholarship to 10 university students, with each recipient receiving up to S$15,000 in bond-free support for their university education.
Since the programme was introduced in 2018, Grab Emerald Circle Scholarship & Bursaries has supported more than 3,070 students and families of driver-and delivery-partners across Singapore. This includes more than 70 university scholarships and over 3,000 bursaries awarded to date.
Selected from nearly 300 applications, this year’s scholarship recipients are pursuing a wide range of ambitions across disciplines including science, engineering and the arts.
Lee Ping Yuen, Head of Partner Engagement, Grab Singapore, said, “For many of our driver- and delivery-partners, every trip they complete is more than the day’s work. It is about supporting their families, creating opportunities for their children, and helping the next generation go further. Through the Grab Emerald Circle Scholarship, we want to stand alongside our partners in those aspirations by supporting students who have worked hard, shown strong potential, and are ready to make the most of the opportunities ahead of them. More broadly, it reflects our commitment to supporting partners not just in their work on the platform, but in the priorities and responsibilities that matter most in their lives.”
Turning ambition into impact
One of this year’s recipients is Tara Anaiya, who hopes to pursue neuroscience research focused on neurodegenerative diseases and improving healthcare accessibility. She has already developed multiple prototypes of a sleep apnea device, improved clinic workflows during an internship and volunteers regularly to encourage younger students to pursue careers in science.
“Receiving the Grab Emerald Circle Scholarship gives me the freedom to focus more deeply on research and continue serving the community without worrying as much about finances. It motivates me to keep working towards solutions that can improve healthcare accessibility and make a meaningful difference to people’s lives,” said Tara Anaiya, a first-year Life Sciences student at the National University of Singapore.
Another scholarship recipient is Nirvashini D/O Pannirselvam, who is taking a different path in the arts with hopes of becoming a novel writer using intricacies of the English language to engage youths in Singapore. Having developed a deep appreciation for the language following her transition from a background in business and science to the arts, Nirvashini hopes to make full use of her skills to carve out a career she can be proud of in the creative sector.
“Receiving the Grab Emerald Circle Scholarship has been a genuine turning point for me. Beyond the financial relief it brings to my family – especially as my mum focuses on her post-surgery recovery – it has been a massive confidence boost. Knowing that Grab cares enough to invest in the dreams of driver-partners’ families has made me feel that my efforts are truly paying off. It has taken away my fear of taking chances and given me the drive to pursue my passion for writing. I feel like I’m not just studying for the sake of getting a degree. Instead, I feel empowered to carve out a future I once thought was out of reach,” said Nirvashini D/O Pannirselvam, a year one student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English at Nanyang Technological University.
Behind every scholar is a parent’s dream
For Grab driver-partner See Tzu Leck , the scholarship will help provide crucial financial support for his daughter See Shin Tong to further her studies in business and communications, and serve as an important stepping stone for her to explore a potential career in video production.
See Tzu Leck, Grab driver-partner said, “Like many parents, all we want is for our children to have opportunities that we never had. This scholarship brings real relief to our family, but it means more than financial support – it tells my daughter that her hard work has been recognised. Seeing her pursue her dreams makes every sacrifice worthwhile. We’re grateful that Grab understands the pressures we carry outside of driving, and supports us in what matters most.”
Grab Emerald Circle Scholarships & Bursaries are part of Grab’s broader efforts to support driver- and delivery-partners and their families in Singapore. This includes wider partner welfare initiatives such as GrabBenefits 2.0, through which Grab committed S$4 million annually to enhanced welfare support for platform workers, as well as education pathways offered through GrabAcademy’s partnership with the London School of Business and Finance that extends tertiary learning opportunities to partners and their loved ones.
