Grab announces Board update, underscoring independent governance

Grab has announced that Dara Khosrowshahi, Chief Executive Officer of Uber Technologies, Inc., has stepped down from its Board of Directors, effective 6 July 2026. Grab has always maintained a strictly independent governance structure, under which Mr Khosrowshahi had previously recused himself from all Board discussions and decisions relating to Taiwan. This Board change further underscores Grab’s commitment to maintaining a robust and independent governance framework in connection with the proposed acquisition of foodpanda Taiwan’s business.

Grab remains a founder-led company. Under Grab’s dual-class share structure, Group CEO and Co-founder Anthony Tan maintains the majority of voting rights. As such, all strategic decisions for the company are made independently by Grab’s leadership in Singapore.

Mr. Khosrowshahi joined Grab’s board in 2018 following Uber’s sale of its Southeast Asia business to Grab. As a non-executive director, he provided oversight to the company and was not involved in the company’s day-to-day management or operations.

Following the change, Grab’s Board comprises six directors, four of whom are independent.
