NTUC FairPrice and Grab to launch new subscription service

  • Subscription service will offer consumers exclusive savings, rebates, and access to services on groceries and transport
  • 95 percent of survey respondents are likely to sign up for subscription services; groceries and transport rated as top two services they would like to enjoy benefits on from a subscription service

SINGAPORE, 15 January 2018 – Singapore’s largest supermarket chain, NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) and Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transportation and mobile payments platform, Grab, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to embark on a joint initiative to launch a new subscription service. Tapping cross-industry strengths from both organisations, the strategic partnership is designed to complement consumers’ online-to-offline lifestyle, while offering better value, convenience and access on essential goods and services in Singapore.

A survey[1] of over 1,000 customers between the ages of 20 to 40 years old revealed that 95 percent are likely to subscribe to such services; 56 percent of the respondents indicated they are not currently subscribed to any existing service. Groceries (69 percent) and Transport (54 percent) also top the list of services[2] they want to enjoy benefits on from a subscription service.

Consumers who opt for this new subscription service by Grab and Fairprice will enjoy exclusive savings, rebates, and access to services on groceries and transport. It is targeted for launch in the first quarter of 2018 where further details will be revealed.

 

[1] The online quantitative survey with was conducted by NTUC Link amongst 1,013 FairPrice shoppers, from 29 August to 5 September 2017.

[2] The services respondents were asked to rate include e-retail, electronics and apparel, F&B, media/content, groceries, petrol, retail fashion, telco, transport and others.
