How Ride Cover works

Simply opt in to Ride Cover for S$0.30 per trip. Upon opt in, S$0.30 will be added to subsequent eligible fares.

FAQs

Ride Cover is a programme which comprises (1) Personal Accident insurance product offered to you by Chubb and (2) Pick-up Delay Voucher made available to you by GrabCar Pte Ltd and/or GrabTaxi Pte Ltd while you are taking a Grab ride in Singapore only.

You can go to the Insurance tile and click on Ride Cover under the “Explore Plans” tab. You will be able to read all the important information relevant to Ride Cover and will also be able to opt into Ride Cover from that page.

If you have opted into Ride Cover, you can go to the Insurance tile and look under the “My Plans” tab to see the status of your Ride Cover plan. If you do not see Ride Cover as one of your plans, it means you have not opted in and you can opt into the plan.

If you are opted into Ride Cover, you will be charged the Ride Cover Fee (“Fee”) on eligible rides and you will be able to see this in the ride receipt that is emailed to you after your ride has been completed.

If you pay for any ride using cash or corporate billing, that ride will not be eligible for Ride Cover. You will not be charged the Fee for the ride even if you are opted in.

GrabShare, GrabHitch and GrabCoach are the only ride types not covered by Ride Cover. If you are opted into Ride Cover and take a GrabShare, GrabHitch, or GrabCoach, no Fee will be charged and you will not enjoy the Ride Cover benefits for that ride.

No. Once you have opted in, the Fee will be added to every eligible ride. If the Fee is charged for a ride, that ride is covered by Ride Cover.

If your pick-up is delayed for more than 10 minutes after the given estimated arrival time, we will send you an inbox message to let you know that you qualify to receive the S$5 Grab ride voucher. You will only receive the voucher if you continued with that ride.

Pick-Up Delay Voucher is not an insurance product. It is an added feature exclusive to Ride Cover.

If the Fee was not charged, that ride is not eligible for Ride Cover and the pick-up delay benefit does not apply.

If you have previously opted into Ride Cover, you can go to the Insurance Tile and click on Ride Cover under the “My Plans” tab. You will be able to opt out by tapping into the plan.

If you qualify for the voucher (the pick-up was delayed for more than 10 minutes and you completed your ride), you will receive an inbox message informing you that you have received the S$5 Grab ride voucher from us. You can find this voucher under the “My Rewards” tab in GrabRewards.

If you cancelled the pick-up delayed ride, you will not receive the S$5 Grab ride voucher. You must continue with the ride in order to be eligible for the voucher.

Any pre-existing conditions are not included. A pre-existing condition means any condition for which a doctor has been consulted or for which treatment or medication has been prescribed; or a condition, the manifestation or symptoms of which a reasonable person in the circumstances would be expected to be aware of at or before the relevant Grab ride commencing. Please refer to policy wording for the complete list of exclusions.

Riders are currently covered with Grab’s Personal Accident Insurance for eligible Grab rides taken. It ensures that you are protected from pick-up to drop-off in the event of an accident, and is provided to you at no cost. It allows you to claim:

(1) Up to S$13,500 in the event of an Accidental Death or Permanent Disablement, and;

(2) Up to S$700* for medical expenses.

The free COVID-19 coverage is an additional benefit offered under Ride Cover, for a limited time only. This benefit provides a lump sum payout in the event of diagnosis of COVID-19, subject to policy terms and conditions.

This coverage is automatically available as a free benefit to all passengers who opt into Ride Cover at anytime between 1 March and 31 March 2020.

In the unfortunate event you are diagnosed with COVID-19, you will receive a S$500 lump sum payout.

For the avoidance of doubt, this benefit can only be claimed once and is not extended to immediate family and co-riders.

The coverage starts from the day you opt into Ride Cover (i.e. anytime between 1 March and 31 March 2020) till 15 April 2020.

If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 during this period, you may submit a claim.

You can submit your claim 24/7 using online claims portal – Chubb Claims Centre.

Please file a claim under “Medical Event” and submit your medical report confirming the diagnosis of COVID-19 and any other supporting documents.

Please submit your claim within 30 days from the date of diagnosis of COVID-19.
