Grab-A-hobby(GAH) is a community-led program for all Grab-partners to participate in. Gaming, Sports, you name it! Partners with passions, hobbies, and activities that they would like to share with others are encouraged to sign up. Grab a group of at least 5 partners with similar hobbies to join!

Application for GAH

Grab-A-Hobby is open to all Grab driver- & delivery- partners with an active Grab account.

There are TWO categories that you can apply for.

  • Grab-A-Hobby (GAH)
  • Grab-A-Hobby Plus (GAH+)

There are 3 main different between Grab-A-Hobby(GAH) and Grab-A-Hobby Plus (GAH+):

  1. No. of core members
  2. Reimbursement amount
  3. Activities organised for each category

Grab-A-Hobby (GAH) is for newly formed hobby groups that wishes to kickstart their hobby.

Grab-A-Hobby Plus (GAH+) is for existing hobby groups that wishes to organize their own events and/or competition.

If you have minimum 5 core members in your hobby group, apply for GAH. If you have a minimum of 15 core members, apply for GAH+.

These are the requirements to be eligible to apply:

  1. Active Grab account as driver- or delivery- Grab-partner
  2. Meet the trip requirement as a group
  3. Meet the minimum Driver Rating (DR) of 4.6 star
  • GAH groups require a minimum of 5 CORE members.
  • GAH+ groups require a minimum of 15 CORE members.

The hobby groups can accept more non-core members into their groups.

Core members are fixed members for each group and will not be able to join other hobby groups.
Core members will receive perks and updates on Grab-A-Hobby.

Sign-ups will open during TWO window:

  • 1st cycle open for Grab-A-Hobby (GAH) and Grab-A-Hobby Plus (GAH+) -> October 2022 – December 2022
    2nd cycle for GAH -> May 2023 – June 2023

Grab-A-Hobby

For successful and unsuccessful applications, core members of the hobby group will receive an in-app notification.

The hobby groups can accept more non-core members into their groups. However, these non-core members will not receive the same benefit and communications as core members.

A link to a “Change of core members” form will be available on the website below from January 2023 onwards.

Submit a new form with all of the correct details. Grab will review the latest form submitted.

Funds

  • Only official company/store receipt and invoice is accepted
  • Clear indication of amount paid
  • Only receipts from 2023 onwards accepted
  • Group’s Social media account 
    • Social Media Account must NOT be private.
  • Group photo of the event/session submission
    ○ Minimum 2 photos of activity taken place

Fund reimbursement can be made through the claim form provided to approved hobby groups.

Once the reimbursement form is submitted, Grab will review within 4 – 6 weeks. Payout will be made within 2 weeks after review of the form.

The claim amount will be transferred to the wallet of all core members equally.

    • The Payouts for GAH will provide one-time reimbursements of up to $150.
    • GAH+ payouts will be broken down into 2-part payout that will total up to $1000.

 

Carrying over the payouts is not permitted. Please claim as needed.
    • The funds can be used to help cover the expenses of your activities (or part of it).
    • Examples of expenses the funds can cover (and are not limited to) include: Food, Equipment, Awards and Venue booking.
    • Funds used are activity-oriented i.e Booking of facilities/ venues, equipments and etc

Hobby Categories

Select ‘Others’ in the Category of Activities section of the sign-up form.

Family and friends are welcome to be part of your activities and events, however, they are not to be considered part of the core members of the group.

Other Questions

Interest Groups will be reviewed and approved on a yearly basis.
Each year, existing groups must submit a renewal form; and new groups may also be formed.

 

Activities by Interest Groups
  1. Activities must be a team-based physically- or mentally-engaging activity.
  2. The activities should be presented in the plan as part of the signup form submission and are subjected to approval by Grab.
  3. Activities organized by the Interest Groups should practice inclusion.
    • Membership should be open to all Grab-partners regardless of whether they have prior knowledge/experience in the area of interest.
  4. Activities must adhere to prevailing laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
    • Safe distancing measures for social gatherings.
    • Interest Groups should not conduct or have any involvement in illegal activities.
    • The nature of the Interest Groups must not have elements of gambling and alcoholism or any immoral or indecent activity.
  5. Activities must fall within the categories listed by Grab. Grab may amend the list of approved activities from time to time.
Members of Interest Groups

  1. Must form the Interest Group with the following minimum number of core members required.
    • Minimum 5 for GAH.
    • Minimum 15 for GAH+.
  2. All core members must meet the following requirements, at the date of application:
    1. Meet the minimum trip requirement
      • GAH → 80 trips over 1 month before the application window.
      • GAH+ → 300 trips over 3 months before the application window.
    2. Meet the DR requirement
      • &>gt; 4.6 Driver star-rating
  • The core members’ account must not be suspended at the point of submission of the application.
  • Core members are not allowed to join other Interest Groups.
Submission of application form
  1. Multiple submissions of entries are allowed
    • Grab will only accept the latest submission as the final version
  2. Compulsory photo submission for Interest Groups that have indicated that they are an existing Interest Group.
    • Photo must show members performing the activity (Partial members will do)
  3. Description of Interest Groups must be hobby specific
  4. Description of ‘How to use the $150” must be provided clearly
    1. If it’s event-related, mention how will it be used as part of an event
      • Team jersey, gear, decals etc
    2. If it’s competition related, mention how it will be used as part of a competition
      • Registration fee, referee fee, team uniform etc
  5. All members of the Interest Group must acknowledge these terms and conditions before Grab will consider the submission.
Criteria and Approval Process of Interest Groups

  1. Interest Groups will be reviewed and approved on a yearly basis.
    1. Each year, existing groups must submit a renewal form; and new groups may also be formed.
  2. A total of up to 100 Interest Groups under GAH (50 from each half of the year) and 10 groups under GAH+ will be selected and approved each year by Grab.
  3. Grab will assess each Interest Group based on the following criteria:
    1. How beneficial the Interest Groups are to the community
    2. How many members each Interest Group benefits
    3. The extent of cross-vertical interaction (groups that include a mixture of driver- & delivery- partners)
    4. Elements that encourage Inclusion (i.e. membership should be open to all Grab-partners regardless of whether they have prior knowledge/experience in the area of interest).

Terms & Conditions for fund reimbursement

  1. Grab will only process claims for expenditure which is related to the Interest Group’s activities, as described in the group’s application form.
  2. Fund reimbursement will be paid to the captain of each Interest Group (as identified in the application form), and each Interest Group can claim up to a maximum of SGD 150 per year for GAH and SGD 1000 per year for GAH+. The captain shall be solely responsible and accountable for the funds received.
  3. Claim form for reimbursement can only be submitted by the captain of each Interest Group
  4. Submission for fund reimbursement must be within the claim window
    • Late submission will not be processed
  5. Official invoice must be submitted
    • The date and time must be stated on the invoice
    • Must have company/supplier information and/or stamp
    • Must have invoice number indicated
  6. Photo proof of the activity/event must be submitted
    1. Must show that an event/gathering occur
    2. Must show the total number of people present
      • Min 5 for GAH & min 15 for GAH+
  7. Grab, its directors, officers, agents and employees shall not be responsible for any personal injuries or damage to or loss of property, and/or any expenses, costs or losses relating to any of the foregoing, incurred or suffered by any party in relation to the Interest Group or its activities, regardless of whether such personal injuries or damage to or loss of property, illness, expenses and/or costs were due to or caused by negligence on the part of Grab, its directors or employees, agents or contractors.
  8. The Interest Group’s activities should not involve any illegal or illicit activity.
  9. The nature of the Interest Groups must not involve gambling, alcohol or any indecent or immoral activity.
  10. Grab reserves the right to terminate its approval of any Interest Group, reject any claim for reimbursement or seek the return of any funds already disbursed in the event any Interest Group and/or any member of the Interest Group is in breach of these terms and conditions.
  11. Grab reserves the sole and absolute right to vary the Terms and Conditions, suspend, or cancel the Grab-a-Hobby programme at any time without giving any prior notice.
  12. Grab’s decisions in any matter in relation to the Grab-a-Hobby programme shall be final and conclusive.
  13. By participating in the Grab-a-Hobby programme and joining an Interest Group, members are deemed to have consented to Grab collecting and processing their personal data to give full effect to the programme, including but not limited to paying or processing claims for reimbursement, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 and Grab’s group Privacy Notice (available at https://www.grab.com/sg/terms-policies/privacy-policy/)

GrabFood delivery-partner, Thailand

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
