GrabChat Guidelines

We need everyone in our community to work together to keep our platform safe and respectful. We therefore encourage you to adhere to the following community guidelines. If you breach any of the following guidelines, Grab, at its sole discretion, may take action including limiting GrabChat usage or temporarily or permanently suspending your account. 

GrabChat users should not send any illegal, inappropriate or sensitive messages or content, this includes (but is not limited to):

  • Obscene, vulgar, offensive, sexually explicit or indecent content
  • Violent, abusive, menacing or harassing content
  • False content
  • Illegal content or references to illegal products/acts
  • Religious or politically sensitive content
  • Infringing content
  • Scam or spam messages
  • Advertisements
  • Any personal data 

Some examples are set out below

1. Do not share obscene or indecent content

GrabChat prohibits users from sharing obscene or indecent content, or requesting them from others, including but not limited to:

  • Obscene or indecent words
  • Any media containing obscene or indecent content (images, GIFs, videos, etc)
  • Explicit images or images containing nudity
  • External links leading to obscene or indecent content
  • Other acts that are contrary to social and moral norms, common sense of decency or modesty, as determined by Grab if such acts are discovered through reports, etc.

2. Do not offer/request for sexual services/activities or dating

Inappropriate requests/offers, including for sexual activities/services, dating opportunities, or encounters that may lead to crimes, are prohibited. 

Examples:

  • “I will give you a tip if you give me ‘extra’ service”
  • “I’m looking for a boyfriend/girlfriend” (looking for someone to date)
  • “Let’s exchange information outside Grab” (inviting to other social networks and dating apps)
  • Other acts judged as inappropriate by Grab

3. Do not share personal information

To ensure the safety and privacy of all our users, it is essential to refrain from sharing any personal information. At Grab, we are committed to protecting your privacy, and we highly encourage you to use GrabChat for all your communication needs to ensure a safe experience for everyone.

Examples of personal information that should not be shared (through GrabChat or outside GrabChat) include but are not limited to: 

  • Phone numbers
  • Home addresses
  • Identification number (eg. NRIC, Passport, FIN numbers) 
  • Financial and payment information (eg. Credit card details, bank account information)
  • Passwords or login credentials
  • Threats or encouragement to share personal information or to hack or scam someone’s account

4. Do not threaten, harass, or bully

At Grab, we have a zero-tolerance policy for threatening, harassing, or bullying behavior.

We strive to maintain a respectful and safe environment for all our users. Please refrain from engaging in aggressive or confrontational behavior, as well as using language that may be disrespectful or threatening to others or which makes others uncomfortable.

Examples of prohibited actions include, but are not limited to:

  • Sending messages that contain threats of physical harm or violence.
  • Sending unwanted or offensive messages or messages which contain offensive, inappropriate or vulgar language.
  • Using derogatory language or slurs targeting a person’s race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or any other attributes.
  • Sending suggestive messages or messages which comment on a person’s appearance
  • Using language which has the tendency to annoy, harass, abuse or threaten, as determined by Grab.

5. Do not send spam or scam content

Please refrain from sending messages that are deceptive, fraudulent or designed to mislead others for financial gain; or repeated, unsolicited or irrelevant messages.

Examples of spam/scam content includes:

  • Fraudulent investment opportunities
  • Phishing attempts
  • Advertisements/promotional content

Grab reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine whether any content or message is in breach of these guidelines or violates any law(s) and/or regulation(s). 

We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive community on Grab. GrabFood delivery-partner, Thailand

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
