Your safety is always our priority.

Grab was started over 10 years go with a mission to make transport safer across Southeast Asia. Back then, you wouldn’t have felt great about your mother, sister, wife or child taking a taxi alone in Malaysia. When our co-founder, Hooi Ling, took taxis home after a late night at work, she would pretend to be on the phone with her mother to deter drivers from robbing or attacking her.

Mobility is freedom, and we wanted to make it safe for anyone to travel in Southeast Asia. We believed that technology could help address these concerns, and today, safety remains at the heart of our business as we continue to make improvements and additions to the safety features on the Grab app.

Drivers are provided with a customised weekly driving safety report in-app, with detailed breakdowns of where exactly the unsafe event took place, if any. Grab also provides actionable insights to suggest ways that they could improve their driving behaviour.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
