5 Tips to Drive Safely | GrabRentals

Road safety is a shared responsibility. Here are five simple safe driving tips and habits to enhance your experience on the roads, and make your journeys safer and more pleasant! Let’s all do our part in creating a safe environment for you, your loved ones and others in the community.

1. Be mindful of pedestrians

Why be fast and furious when you can be fatt & prosperous? To improve your own road safety, stay alert and be mindful of pedestrians and cyclists at all times. Always make sure that you are aware of your surroundings when driving, and remember to check your blind spots before changing lanes, overtaking, turning, stopping and moving off!

2. Maintain your vehicle regularly to minimise the chances of vehicle breakdown

Regular checks on your vehicle will contribute greatly to safer, trouble free and more pleasurable driving. As a general rule of thumb, given the high mileage clocked by PHV drivers, you should be sending your vehicle in for basic servicing with every 10,000 km mileage clocked or every six months, whichever comes first.

Regularly servicing your vehicle and ensuring the oil and filter is replaced, the brake pads and brake fluids are checked, and the steering and suspension are inspected are some of the car maintenance services available. To put your mind at ease, all vehicles rented under GrabRentals come with a free maintenance and servicing package included. Simply book an appointment with the authorised servicing workshop and keep your car in tip-top condition!

3. Put on your seatbelt and ensure your passengers do the same

Seat belts must always be worn by the driver and all passengers.

If you are picking up passengers with children, do not allow children to fight or climb around in your car. Do note that you may only pick up passengers with children below 1.35 metres in height if there are appropriate child restraint devices. To ensure the safety of children, their seat belts must be securely fastened at all times.

4. Avoid distractions

Too much noise can easily distract you from focusing on the road. Distracted driving is a serious safety hazard that can be avoided by always keeping your attention on the road.

Avoid eating or drinking when driving, and complete any calls or emails prior to your journey. If there are children in the car who require your attention, be sure to pull over to a safe spot before tending to their needs.

5. Avoid driving when tired or feeling unwell

If you are struggling to stay awake, especially after a long day of driving, it is strongly recommended that you rest at home instead. To protect yourself and your passengers, drivers who are feeling unwell should not be driving to prevent the spread of illness.

As part of the GRBeyond add-on* for GrabRentals hirer-partners, you can claim up to six days of MC Rental Recovery as long as you have a valid Medical/Hospital Certificate issued by a local General Practitioner (GP), Polyclinic or Hospital for any treatment deemed as medically required.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
