Vehicle Damage Protection Scheme

Vehicle body damages such as scratches and dents can cost a hefty sum to repair when you are renting a car, especially when it requires paying it off all at once. Body repairs may even cost up to $3,000!

No. Opt-out is not allowed for the entire contract period.

For recontract at 12 months & above
If you are recontracting with the same car, you may opt-in for VDP.

For recontract at below 12 months
If you are recontracting with the same car, you may only opt-in for the Vehicle Damage Protection Scheme (VDP) after all the following conditions are met:

  • Schedule for a Vehicle Damage Assessment with GrabRentals

Yes. You may request to change the vehicle. However, you’d be required to pay for the damages (if any) on your current vehicle before swapping to another vehicle to be part of this scheme.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) may be optional (depending on contract promotion requirement). However, we do recommend our hirer-partners to take up CDW as well to reduce the risk of high damage liability in the event of an accident. The vehicle protection scheme only covers liability on bodily damages that does not involve accident cases.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
