E-Hailing insurance is a mandatory add-on to your motor insurance, enforced by the Ministry of Transport to ensure protection for you and third parties during E-Hailing jobs. Your basic private car insurance unable to cover any accident damages to your vehicle, passengers, and third parties when you provide E-hailing services.
Basic Requirements
- Under Comprehensive coverage: Reject Third Party or Third Party, Fire & Theft coverage
- Personal Owned Vehicle: Under Malaysian IC
Vehicles below 14 years old: At least 1 year remaining before reaching 15 years old
Step 1 : Compare the E-Hailing Insurance Products
You can choose one of the following E-hailing insurance options:
- Grab Daily Insurance (GDI)
- Recommended for part-time driver-partners or those planning to operate less frequently.
- E-Hailing Annual Insurance (Private Hire Car) Add-on
- Recommended for full-time driver-partners or those who plan to operate regularly.

Step 2: Check if your current vehicle insurer is listed below.

Important Notice:
For MSIG policies with an effective date before 1st August 2025, the GDI add-on will remain available for purchase, and will remain valid until the end of the policy period, in accordance with the terms and conditions.
For Tokio Marine policies with an effective date before 1st September 2025, the GDI add-on will remain available for purchase, and will remain valid until the end of the policy period, in accordance with the terms and conditions.

Authorisation Letter Signed by Vehicle Owner*
You are not required to upload this authorisation letter if you are the vehicle owner and/or your name is stated in the insurance policy (cover note/endorsement).
What if my name is not stated in the policy and not under ”All Driver” coverage?
You may contact the vehicle owner and insurer to proceed with either one of the options below:
Option 1.
Request to add your name as an authorised driver. Upload with revised cover note that states your name.
Option 2.
Request “All Driver” add-on and upload with revised cover note that states “All Driver” and an authorisation letter signed by the vehicle owner. Download the template at: grb.to/grabloa

Q: Can I purchase E-Hailing insurance with Third Party, Fire, and Theft coverage?
No, E-Hailing insurance can only be purchased with Comprehensive coverage.
Q: Can I purchase my basic motor insurance and E-Hailing Insurance from different insurers?
No, both your basic motor insurance and E-Hailing insurance must be issued by the same insurer.
Q: Can I use Grab Daily Insurance to drive for other E-Hailing Operators?
No. The Grab Daily Insurance only covers you while you are driving with Grab.
Q: Do I need to purchase E-Hailing annual add-on, if I’ve opted for Grab Daily Insurance?
No, if you’ve already paid for the annual E-Hailing add-on, there’s no need to purchase Grab Daily Insurance.

Q: What if I do not want to purchase the Grab Daily Insurance?
You can opt for the annual E-Hailing add-on instead. Simply purchase it from your insurer and submit the Insurance Cover Note to Grab. Please check with your insurer to confirm if they offer this option.
Q: Can I register with vehicle age over 14 years old?
No. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) allows cars to be used on E-Hailing platforms up to a maximum age of 15 years. However, to register, the car must have at least 1 year remaining before reaching the maximum age limit, meaning it must be below 14 years old at the time of registration.
- Scenario 1: Vehicle age 13 years old
Can register, because the car has not yet reached 14 years old. - Scenario 2: Vehicle age 14 years and 2 months old
Cannot register, because the car has exceeded 14 years old.

1. Campaign period is from 15 January 2022 (12:00am) – 28 February 2022 (11.59pm).
2. GrabPay users are eligible for a “RM8 rebate” in your “My Rewards” when you spend a minimum of RM88 on a single receipt via GrabPay Wallet.
3. The offer of “RM8 rebate” is limited to a total of 62,500 redemptions throughout the campaign period.
4. Offer is valid for TWO (2) in-store redemptions with a cap of ONE(1) redemption per user per day throughout the campaign. Shared across AEON Co, AEON BiG, AEON MaxValu Prime, and AEON Wellness throughout the campaign period.
5. The “RM8 rebate” will be awarded instantly with a minimum transaction of RM88 with GrabPay at all outlets of AEON Co, AEON BiG, AEON MaxValu Prime, AEON Wellness; The rebate can be found under “My Rewards”. Rebate must be redeemed by clicking “use now” under “My Rewards” 30 days from the date of issuance.
6. The campaign will cease once all redemptions have been fully awarded or at the expiration of the campaign period, whichever is earlier.
7. Offer is based on a first come first served and while stocks last basis only.
8. Grab and AEON Group shall not be under any obligation to inform users, on any communication channels once the offer has been fully redeemed.
9. Offer is only available for AEON Co, AEON BiG, AEON MaxValu Prime, and AEON Wellness physical stores purchases at cashier counter only via GrabPay Wallet; offer is not applicable for online or GrabMart purchases.

13. These terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of Malaysia and any dispute arising out of or in connection with promotion shall be referred to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts of Malaysia.
