GrabExpress Conducts Digital Marketing Workshop to Support the Business Growth of Local Entrepreneurs in Balikpapan

Today, Grab, the leading online-to-offline (O2O) mobile platform in Southeast Asia, empowers local entrepreneurs in Balikpapan to support their business growth through a digital marketing workshop: “Success Resolution with GrabExpress”.

Balikpapan, 19 January 2019 – Today, Grab, the leading online-to-offline (O2O) mobile platform in Southeast Asia, empowers local entrepreneurs in Balikpapan to support their business growth through a digital marketing workshop: “Success Resolution with GrabExpress”. Grab is supporting local entrepreneurs in Indonesia through an easy, instant and convenient delivery service, GrabExpress. The seminar that was attended by 70 participants, also collaborates with e-commerce communities in Balikpapan, including Bukalapak and Tokopedia.

GrabExpress committed to continuing supporting local Indonesian entrepreneurs to grow. According to the data from East Kalimantan Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperation and SME in 2017[1], 18% of the total MSMEs in East Kalimantan were coming from Balikpapan with more than 57 thousand businesses. MSMEs also contribute around 12.18% of East Kalimantan’s GDP. According to a research conducted by Google & Temasek in 2016, e-commerce business growth opportunity in Indonesia is expected to comprise 52% of the total e-commerce opportunities in Southeast Asia, reaching USD 46 billion in 2025[2]. This rapid growth is in line with the increasing opportunities to develop a safe, comfortable and reliable delivery service. The development of the digital economy has a great potential to boost Indonesia’s economic growth and SME’s business is expected to double after shifting to an online marketing platform.

Through the digital marketing workshop, we would like to encourage local entrepreneurs to take advantages of digital marketing business approach efficiently to achieve their business goals in 2019. The workshop will support Grab ongoing commitment, which summarized in the Grab 4 Indonesia master plan to drive the growth of Indonesia digital economy as Indonesia’s power in the future by accelerating the growth of e-commerce business.”

A digital marketing practitioner, Achmad Solihin, who was a speaker at the workshop explained, “MSMEs have an important role in supporting national economic activities, especially to solve unemployment problem and gaps between sectors. Empowering small and medium businesses becomes a priority to create a solid fundamental economic. Today’s seminar is expected to provide practical tips that could be implemented by all entrepreneurs in Balikpapan to drive their business growth. With the many conveniences offered in this digital era, including online delivery services like GrabExpress, it would be easier and faster for businesses to grow. I hope this type of training can be conducted in other cities across Indonesia to enrich local entrepreneurs’ knowledge.”

Today, GrabExpress services are available in 139 cities in Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke. Users in Balikpapan can enjoy the GrabExpress service using the GrabBike fleets with various features including:

  • More friendly interface: The booking flow has been updated with an easier and simpler user interface. Contact list in the mobile phonebook will be automatically integrated to Grab application to ease users in choosing and filling contact details of the recipients when booking the service.
  • Multi Concurrent Booking: Customers will be able to send up to ten orders at same time.
  • Instant delivery: The delivery and reception of goods are conducted on the same day with the availability of GrabBike fleet.
  • Safety insurance: The delivery is now safer with the availability of goods insurance, delivery proof and delivery tracking feature.

“We carry out hyperlocal approach with a deep understanding of the local people preferences and habits which are then translated into our services. We hope Grab will be an integrated application that becomes more relevant to the daily needs of Indonesians. Thus, we are able to embody our vision as the first everyday superapp in Southeast Asia,” Mediko concluded.
