The five children from Rumah Harapan got the ride of their lifetime in GrabCar Lamborghinis

Jakarta, October 1, 2015 – Five children facing life-threatening illnesses from Rumah Harapan got what they wished for when they were taken for a spin in Lamborghinis today, courtesy of GrabCar’s GrabSpeed campaign. Proud parents and Rumah Harapan staff looked on as the children, between the ages 3 and 12 years old, were chauffeured in the exotic supercars around Istora Senayan at Gelora Bung Karno.

‎Dinas Perhubungan dan Transportasi (Dishub) was also present to show their support for the children. The free rides were GrabCar’s do-good initiative to bring some cheer to the brave children.

Okta Yoga Pratama, Zirar Rizki Ardani, Tyas Bekti Cahayaningsi, Jeni Marbun and Banila Alfinatus Syafaati beamed brightly when they first noticed the Lamborghinis Gallardo and Aventador, sporting the bold green and black livery of the GrabCar.

“I feel like a star today. The car is noisy and big and shiny. I love them!” said Jeni, an eight-year-old leukimia patient. Twelve-year-old Tyas was excited to show off photographs of him in the GrabCar Lamborghini to his friends. “I can’t wait to tell my friends that I got to ride in a supercar. I feel that I have superpowers,” said Tyas.

GrabCar Singapore spokesperson Sng Su Min said “We wanted to brighten the lives of these children and bring some joy so they would special and forget their suffering even if it’s just for a short while. We want them to that their dreams and hopes matter, that GrabCar cares.”

The GrabSpeed campaign was tweaked following a discussion with head of Dinas Perhubungan dan Transportasi (Dishub), Pak Andri Yansyah. The free GrabSpeed rides for consumers that were scheduled on 24-25 October and 31 October-1 November were postponed. The GrabCar service continued to operate as usual, and was not affected by changes to the GrabSpeed campaign. In consultation with Dishub, GrabCar is legal and compliant to all of Dishub’s requirements.

The new GrabSpeed campaign focused on engaging consumers on social media via the Snap and Share contest and also bringing positivity to the children of Rumah Harapan.
