Grab Announces Third Intake of Its Elite Driver and Biker Programme

Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing platform, will continue its Elite Driver and Biker Programme with the launch of its third wave of driver intake.

JAKARTA, 15 February 2016 Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing platform, will continue its Elite Driver and Biker Programme with the launch of its third wave of driver intake. Introduced last year, the Elite Driver and Biker Programme- a welfare initiative for GrabTaxi’s drivers and GrabBike’s bikers- is Grab’s continuous commitment to empower its partners and improve their livelihood. To date, Grab has allocated more than IDR 50 billion to invest on the programme.

The Elite Driver and Biker programme is a year-long initiative to promote and reward Grab’s most active drivers and those who meet the company’s highest service standard. Positive customer rating and feedback is also a criteria. Selected Elite Drivers and Bikers enjoy special privileges and benefits such as a pension and savings fund, certificate of recognition, financial incentives, scholarships for their children, and free Grab merchandises. Elite Bikers are also automatically eligible for the GrabScheme programme, a low-rate motorcycle financing scheme. As a standard procedure, Grab offers insurance coverage to all of its drivers, bikers and passengers.

Grab kickstarted the Elite Driver and Biker Programme in April last year. The first wave of intake registered 100 GrabTaxi drivers and another 100 GrabBike bikers. With positive response from the pioneer batch, Grab doubled the numbers in the second wave of intake with 200 new participants each for GrabTaxi and GrabBike.

“Our drivers and bikers are partners who form the foundation that is key to our success. Our Elite drivers and bikers embody the Grab spirit and passion. These are people who go all out to deliver the best service, setting the bar high for safe, reliable and trusted rides,” said Ridzki Kramadibrata, Managing Director, Grab Indonesia.

In order to maintain the high standards, all Elite Drivers and Bikers are routinely evaluated. The minimum number of ride target set by Grab, feedback or ratings from customers and minimum number of complaints from passengers are some of the criteria to remain in the programme.

“The Elite Driver and Biker programme is one form of our recognition and appreciation to those who deliver outstanding service. These partners set the examples for their peers and together with Grab, they are helping to change the transportation landscape in Indonesia,” said Ridzki.

As a bonus incentive, Grab Indonesia awarded Abdul Manaf, a GrabTaxi Elite Driver from the pioneer intake, an all-expense paid mini-Haj trip. GrabBike Elite Biker Wadani beat his peers from the second batch to win a brand new motorcycle. Wadani had previously worked as a traditional motorbike taxi driver (or commonly known for ojek pangkalan).

Since its founding in 2012, the Grab app has been downloaded onto more than 11 million devices across Southeast Asia. More than 200,000 drivers in the Grab network, including all of the services under Grab app, have been using the app to receive bookings in Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. The Grab app and its services are currently available in 28 cities across 6 countries in Southeast Asia. The Grab app has also been recognized in the Vulcan Awards 2015, topping the ‘App of the Year’ and ‘Transport App of the Year’ categories.
