what’s 👍👍👍: - the vibe, decors, tablewares, creativity,,….everything is so fun, nostalgic and well thought out - services, staffs will give really good explanation on their menu items and inspirations - Ioved the 💚churros with kaya, and also 🍤seafood stuffed lychee ——- What’s 🤔🤔🤔: - overall the food and drinks taste good but on the gimmicky side, in between “this is interesting…🤨” and “wow🥹” —- Verdict - will i come back? - yes, if it is for a fun social with friends or colleagues. In fact I’ve been here twice with different groups of friends. I am also curious about their sister edition Lou Shang. - no, if I’m craving for great drinks and food 😮‍💨

They take their food seriously here. And service is very quick too. We order a variety of small plates and mains to share and I rather liked the twist the chef takes for each dish. For example; that Claypot soup thing is actually their rendition of hainanese chicken rice but in a soup form (my favorite!). That icecream in kueh pai tee shells is actually curry chicken ( the white foam is coconut cream) 🤯 Tip: don’t forget to take a picture at the mamadiam before you leave . You can also pick up a free popsicle stick from the exit as well (look for the white freezer box)

Celebrating a friend’s birthday here in Mama Diam!!! Heard this store plenty of times and I am finally here!!! We ordered 3 starters and 3 main dishes for 4 pax, and managed to finish them just nice. 🌮 Roast duck tarts: it’s so refreshing and you cannot imagine the taste by its look. 🦀 Chili softshell bao: it’s ok-ok, you can have better one in Abundance. 🥦 Tempura cauliflower: this one is my favorite! Juicy and crunch. 🥩 Angus ribeye steak: above average. 都很不错,没有一道踩雷了,强推!

Mama Diam sits hidden behind a front that looks like a scaled down provision shop (the “Mama Shop”). Gayle served us through the night and helped us with our picks. (Images are in mentions order) Our favorites were the Singapore Softshell Crab Bao and the Salted Egg Lotus Root Chips. We had the Assam Pan Seared Barramundi for a main and Kaya Churros for dessert; both were good but not extraordinary. Where Mama Diam shone for us was with their cocktails 🍹, especially for the price. We took advantage of their S$60 for three cocktails and got the Peranakan Negroni, Nasi Lemak, and Green Mango Highball. We capped the night with Sourplum Shots.

Hidden behind a little green door along Niel Rd lies a cute speakeasy~ warm and cozy, it’s the perfect place for a date or a celebratory meal! Beyond good tapas, they have a ton of interesting cocktails that truly wowed me. Price points are steep though, you have been warned. Here are some of my personal faves: 🥓 Candied bacon — Absolutely bursting with flavour. I was well and truly blown away. As can be seen from how flabbergasted I was in the second pic 🍹Twisties sour — Definitely not for everyone, but I loved this drink 🫣 tasted exactly like Twisties, and came with a bowl of Twisties!! PSA: During happy hour, they have appetisers and cocktails at just $11!!

When you say a cocktail is “interesting” or “creative”, it does not always mean a good thing. But The Store serves TRULY creative, interesting, and DELICIOUS cocktails 😮‍💨 ————— Drinks I love:💖 🫐 Blueberry cheesecake 🫐: it is sweet but not artificially syrupy overly sweet. The amount of cheese taste on top is 💓💓💓 🥜Salted peanut butter daiquiri🥜: oooooo the Reese on top adding on to the perfect nuttiness 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 I can have another few of this 🥃Shibuya sour🥃: of course, a whiskey sour house version….the moment I taste the wasabi bits 🤯💯 —————- Second time here and this might be on top of my fav cocktail bars in Singapore now Good for both dates and hangouts with friends ❤️

something about the peanut butter cocktail that is lighter than you’d expect. something about the Wagyu beef sliders with jam that slaps. something about the big smiles. something about the unassuming door with fluted glass panels. clean toilet is always a big plus.

went to bar bon funk for our 6th anniversary, and the place did not disappoint. here's our review: 🥟 parisian gnocchi ($34++): the exterior was seared perfectly to have a crispy golden brown crust & was perfectly complemented by the light & fluffy interior. sauce was delicious too, with the sweet corn adding a nice textural contrast to the gnocchi. 🍑 peaches (~$24; forgot the price): served with a smidge of homemade peach jam at the side, it had a nice aftertaste of genmaicha. overall a tasty yet refreshing drink for us; would highly recommend ordering this. 🥛a glass of milk (~$26; forgot the price): the drink was made from a blend of nut milks, giving it a creamy texture, and tasted a little tart from the homemade fermented strawberry jam. overall, an interesting drink with a cute concept! on top of good food and drinks, the service was warm and friendly. highly recommend this place for celebrations! remember to make a reservation, especially if you want to sit at the lounge.

Ambience & interiors ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: Definitely a great spot for hangouts and dates. I would visit again just for this factor alone 🤣 My friends and I had a few drinks and appetisers here, all of them are delicious. I quite like the shima-aji and vegetable “taco” (slide 6️⃣), as well as their Gnocchi (we ordered two servings 🤣 but oops finished before taking pics) Although cocktails are a little under expectation, overall a pleasant experience and would come back ❤️
Hopscotch - The Capitol Kempinski Hotel
Hopscotch - The Capitol Kempinski Hotel
4.2(10 reviews)

The Capitol Arcade location is perhaps Hopscotch’s most iconic home so far. Located right outside the historic Capitol Theatre, Hopscotch once again finds itself close to the arts – a place with almost a century worth. After its revamp in 2015, the immediate area surrounding Capitol Theatre was transformed into the picturesque sunlit atrium where Hopscotch (Capitol) nests at today, “Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski”. The fully air-conditioned atrium exudes old world charm reminiscent of Colonial era streets with modern expression, a fascinating amalgamation of the old and new. Being located at City hall also offers much accessibility, a convenience that our original 28 Maxwell location once had. To us, this is the perfect space for merry men, lively crowds, and vibrant atmosphere, the perfect place to host guests.

Convenient central location at City Hall. Enjoyed their dishes with abit of western-local fusion fare. Happy hour from 5-8pm including draughts, wines and signature cocktails with attractive price! Nice ambience and not too noisy despite the place was always crowded. Service was a little patchy, maybe due to the weekend dinner crowd and short of manpower. Overall, still a good dining experience.

Been to their Capitol and GBTB outlet, have to say that i prefer the first one as the staff there are extremely friendly. It makes the dining experience very fun. I’d always get the Lantern cocktail, very dramatic with the fire show and all but love the gin that comes with it.

Native is my one of my favourite & go-to bars in Singapore! It serves really creative and delicious gin-based cocktails with 🇸🇬 local/regional flavour influence. Their menu changes seasonally and the last time I’ve been there, really really enjoyed their 🥃 Kuro Koji 🥃 💁🏻‍♀️ For single girlies looking for a first date spot - you could almost ALWAYS find a last minute spot here whichever day of the week. The ambience is cosy and the service is always perfect! (That being said, also a very good spot for hanging out with friends! 👯‍♀️👯👯‍♂️)

… for me anyway Jigger & Pony is Singapore’s top ranked bar, #3 on Asia’s Top 50 bars. And it’s very very good, and consistently so. But Native (ranked #45 in 2025) is better. Here’s why :- 1) The drinks aren’t just good, they’re inventive. Conceptually strong and executed with JUST the right distinctiveness, subtlety and balance 2) uniqueness and rarity - native pushes the envelope in flavour n spirits - Ant 🐜 distillates, Jackfruit rum, Chicken rice fat, constantly experimenting with in-house fermentations. Beyond “mixology” this is drinkable gastronomy. 3) both menu (and bar staff knowledge) at native is more geared towards leading patrons to be adventurous, take risks, step outside our comfort zone. Jigger & Pony’s menu help drinkers select a cocktail we know we’d enjoy, but an evening at Native teaches me, expands my flavour vocabulary. The Chicken Rice cocktail is a shining example of inventive, subtle, nett new flavour 🤯🔥🔥 . Prob the best glass in sg bar scene.

Went to the coup bar for an old friend fair well. The food were all relative small portions but taste great!👍 Menu is also short but basically can blindly order anything. Everything came with a unique but good flavor. The dumplings were my absolute fave. The ambiance is super cool. Dimly lit, it's the perfect spot for a night out with friends. Got light music as well on the side, not too loud but put you in a mood.

Slip behind an unmarked door and you’ll find Gibson; equal parts glam, cozy, and quietly confident. The vibe is old-school cool, the cocktails are wild but thoughtful (get the Gibson, obviously), and the ice-cold oysters come with provenance tags because… why not? Perfect for date nights, deep convos, or just pretending you’re in a noir film.

Night Hawk is not here to play safe. Recognized by The World's 50 Best Bars, The Slippery Transistor comes with an actual PB&J sandwich on top! Part cocktail, part snack, fully genius. Pair that with a Kick Artist Fix (maple + brown butter = silky perfection) and a chili dog that’s more sauce than bun, and you’ve basically hacked the perfect late-night combo.

TAAN IZA-BAR takes after the spirit of izakaya in Japan. The décor is not your typical izakaya but of an artistic impression from a local artist. The mood of the place is divided into 2; Japanese theme which has the rugged wall mural depicting the ‘yokocho’ (small alley) in Tokyo and individual modern art piece handmade with copper. Similarly, the menu design was specially crafted with interesting izakaya dishes which complements well with drinks. There are also popular dishes meant for dining with friends and families.

We spent a relaxing post concert evening at TAAN IZA BAR in Bugis which still had Halloween decor that made the night feel fun. The Gong Xi Fa Cai cocktail was light with floral osmanthus and the Eggplant Boss was strong with a gentle grape note. Lazy Duck was our favourite with a sweet bright balance. The omakase skewers were a little salty and the spicy chicken skin was very spicy and crisp. A cosy spot with great drinks and one we would return to. 📸 Follow @ayaalan.foodie for more foodie reviews!
