FAQs

In light of the COVID-19 situation, Chubb has announced cut off dates for the following destinations:

Any claim made in respect of coverages purchased under the Grab Travel Cover master policy (“Policy”) that is caused by COVID-19 after the cut-off dates specified above in respect of the stated Destinations will not be payable. 

Cancellation and/or refund of travel certificate of insurance 

Cancellation of the certificate of insurance and full refund is allowed. Cancellation request must be before the policy start date. 

Change coverage effective date if trip is postponed 

Yes, Chubb is prepared to endorse your certificate of insurance to your new travelling date/destination within the same duration/geographical cover at no additional cost with the following condition(s): 

  • The endorsement to your certificate of insurance must be done before commencement of your trip which must take place within 6 months of your original departure date. 

Coverage for Travel Cancellation/ Travel Curtailment 

No, the Policy does not cover travel cancellation/curtailment due to this outbreak. You may reach out to your travel service provider (such as airline, hotel, travel agent) to seek information on any possible refund. 

For policies purchased before the respective cut-off dates, you may submit a case for reimbursement after seeking a refund or credit from your airline, hotel and/or travel service provider. 

However, if you’re required to be in compulsory quarantine, you may be covered for travel cancellation if you purchased your policy on or before the respective cut off dates announced by Chubb, subject to the specified cause as mentioned above and Policy terms and conditions. 

Coverage for Medical Expenses/ Emergency Medical Evacuation & Repatriation 

Yes, if you purchased your Policy before the respective cut off dates announced by Chubb, you may be covered subject to the policy terms and conditions. 

Coverage for Travel Delay 

If your journey had already commenced prior to respective cut off dates announced by Chubb, and due to airspace restriction or airport closure resulted in travel delay, you may still be covered subject to the Policy terms and conditions.

  • A user of the Grab app, a Malaysian resident who are at least 18 years of age, up to and including 75 years of age, his/her spouse and/or dependent children.
  • If the traveller is below the age of 18, his/her parent or guardian can enter into this contract of insurance on behalf of the traveller.
  • Travellers who are departing from and returning to Malaysia.

No. You must purchase your policy before you depart from Malaysia.

Yes. To cover any additional dates during your trip, you need to purchase another policy via the Grab app.

Yes. Your friend will need to purchase a separate policy through his/her own Grab app.

No. The policy does not offer coverage for any pregnancy-related condition that results from or is a complication of pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage (except miscarriage due to accidental injury).

No. The policy does not cover any pre-existing medical conditions which the insured person was diagnosed, treated or knew about 12 months prior to the effective date of the Travel Cover.

No. You are not covered if you have direct participation in any acts of terrorism, or if you suffer any losses caused by terrorist attacks by nuclear, chemical and/or biological substances.

  • Yes. Activities that are accessible to the general public without restriction (other than height or general health or fitness warnings) and which are provided by a recognised local tour operator are covered. Provided that you are acting under the guidance and supervision of qualified guides and/or instructors of the tour operators when carrying out such tourist activities.
  • However, the policy does not cover any activities, sports or sporting activities that present a high level of inherent danger (i.e. involves a high level of expertise, exceptional physical exertion, highly specialised gear or stunts) including but not limited to big wave surfing, canoeing down rapids, cliff jumping, horse jumping, ultra-marathons, biathlons, triathlons, skydiving, and stunt riding.
  • Yes. Cover commences at the time you leave your place of residence in Malaysia to go directly to your departure point.
  • Coverage ceases when you arrive at your place of residence in Malaysia, or the date on which the policy is terminated, whichever is the earliest.​​​

No. You do not have to pay any excess. You will be paid the full benefit amount up to the sum insured if you satisfy the terms and conditions of Travel Cover.
