Who says we can’t celebrate together while being apart?

To many, Chinese New Year this year looked a bit different. For us sadly, this means we couldn’t greet or meet our Grab family physically like we usually do.
Nonetheless, no festive season is complete without a proper get-together! So, with that in mind, we held this year’s celebration online instead, through our CNY Open House. If you missed it, here are some highlights:
‘Huat’ a celebration: Ringing in the new year virtually 🏮
Although our usual CNY celebration is done virtually this year, it’s as festive as ever! Live streamed via Rakan Grab Facebook Group, the open house saw both Sean Goh and Rashid Shukor making an appearance, where they were able to give their heartfelt words of appreciation to our partners for their hard work serving the nation.
Along with that, Grab Driver Centre (GDC) teams and the Driver Representative Committees (DRCs) also greeted the community, in their own special way. To commemorate the occasion, they put together videos of them cheering ‘Gong Xi Fa Cai’ in high spirit and wished everyone a prosperous new year.

We also took the opportunity to acknowledge our partners that went above and beyond last year through the Everyday Heroes Award. This award is given to recognise members of the community for their outstanding service to passengers and consumers, by helping them move around or get their food/groceries safely. On top of that, some viewers also got to walk away with prizes! Courtesy of our sponsors, items like smartphones, fuel vouchers, bluetooth earphones and never-before-seen Grab merchandise were given away to lucky partners throughout the open house.
Another memorable part of the celebration is the entertainment segment. Viewers were treated to captivating musical performance, given by our very own talented partners. Shoutout to Raymond Balachandran, Michael Chow Chee Hoong, Mohamad Farid Bin Mohamad Tajudin, and Mohammad Azlan Bin Said for putting on a show for us!
Our talented entertainers for the open house 🤘
All in all, we’re glad to have been able to come together and celebrate this year’s Chinese New Year with our Grab family. Once again, congratulations to the winners of the Everyday Heroes Awards – all of you are truly the heroes on the road! For those that won prizes in the giveaway session, we hope you enjoy them.
To our sponsors – GrabPay, Shell, and Maxxis Tyres – our deepest gratitude for your kind support in making this event a huge success. Last but not least, a big thank you to everyone that tuned in and celebrated with us. Goodbye for now and see you next year!

Bringing CNY festivities to your own home 🍲🎊
Make your own Yee Sang and paper lanterns at home!
No matter how different the celebration is, some traditions are here to stay. Ahead of our open house, we created a few tutorial videos to help our community experience and appreciate some CNY traditions that we know and love, in their own homes!
