As part of our mission to be the everyday app for all, we have partnered with Pusat Pungutan Zakat MAIWP (PPZ) and Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) to make zakat contribution easier for our Muslim driver-partners and delivery-partners.

As such, we are delighted to make it easier for you to contribute zakat on your earnings with Grab. All you have to do is opt-in and your zakat deduction will begin the following month.

How does it work?

  1. Opt-in by filling up the required details and submitting the form here.
  2. You will be notified if opt-in is successful by the 5th of the next month.
  3. We will deduct 2.5% of your nett earnings from your credit wallet (driver-partner) / cash wallet (delivery-partner) in the following month.

Example: If you opt-in this month (November 2019), your nett earnings in December 2019 will be eligible for zakat contribution, hence it will be deducted in January 2020.

Zakat Contribution Example

What do I need to do if I have not registered for zakat?

Don’t worry, when you opt-in our programme to contribute zakat on your Grab’s earnings, you will automatically be registered for zakat. If you would like to contribute zakat on earnings from other sources (eg. gold and silver, business income), kindly visit your nearest PPZ or LZS office.

I am currently based outside of Selangor/W.P Kuala Lumpur and I would like to contribute for zakat. What should I do?

You can visit your nearest Zakat office to contribute. We are currently looking into extending the programme to other cities too. Stay tuned!

What if I already have been contributing zakat to either PPZ or LZS?

If your zakat contributions have been made under your new IC number, your contributions on Grab earnings will be recorded in the same account. If your zakat contributions have been made under other ID (eg: old IC number, Police ID), kindly provide us with the details in the opt-in form to ensure the zakat contributions are accumulated into the same account.

Can I opt-out from this programme anytime?

Yes, you can opt-out anytime by filling the form here but please note that the current month’s contribution will still be carried out.

Example: If you opt-out on 16 March 2020, we will still deduct 2.5% of your March’s nett earnings in April 2020. Deduction for zakat contributions will only stop in May 2020.

How do I find out how much my zakat contribution has been so far?

Depending on which Zakat Agency you have chosen to make your zakat contribution to, kindly register for an individual account or login to your existing account on that Zakat Agency’s website to monitor your contribution amount. Here are LZS’s website and PPZ’s website links.

If you would like to contribute more than 2.5% of your monthly earnings, you can also do it via the relevant links provided.

How do I calculate my nett earnings?

Nett earnings are equivalent to total fares collected after commission deduction (if applicable).

When is the programme’s opt-in deadline?

Driver-partners and delivery-partners need to opt-in before the end of any month to be eligible to contribute zakat in the next month. The deduction from your earnings will start in the following month.

Example: If you opt-in by 28 November 2019, we will deduct your December 2019 earnings in January 2020.

Is there an age limit for this programme?

There is no age limit to make a contribution. However, this programme is ONLY open to  Muslim Grab driver-partners who are interested to contribute zakat on earnings.

Where does this contribution go?

The contribution will be transferred to PPZ or LZS on a monthly basis, depending on which Zakat Agency you have chosen in the opt-in form.

What happens if I’m terminated/banned or if I don’t have enough balance in my wallet after opting in?

If you’re terminated/banned or if you don’t have enough balance to be deducted, we will stop deducting from you wallet from the following months onwards. You’ll also be automatically opted out when this happens.

Kindly be reminded that all members of the Grab community are required to follow the Code of Conduct and Terms of Services.
