Jakarta, 6 September 2018 – Grab today announces the launch of GrabFresh in Jakarta, its on-demand grocery delivery service. Working in partnership with HappyFresh, Southeast Asia’s number one grocery delivery provider, GrabFresh gives users the hassle-free, time-saving benefit of ordering their groceries online, and then getting high-quality products delivered right to their doorstep.

The launch of GrabFresh aims to give Indonesian shoppers a more convenient way to shop for their groceries, by taking away the hassle of going to a supermarket, getting stuck in a traffic jam, waiting in long checkout lines, and having to carry bags full of heavy groceries. With GrabFresh, Indonesian shoppers get to choose from the widest selection of products compared to any other grocery delivery service available, and have trained personal shoppers pick out the items for them in-store to ensure they are of the best quality.

Ridzki Kramadibrata, Managing Director, Grab Indonesia said, “Last month we announced GrabPlatform, our open platform strategy to serve more of our customers’ everyday needs by working with best-in-class, like-minded partners. GrabFresh, powered by HappyFresh, is an excellent example of GrabPlatform coming to life, and is the first of many more partnerships to come as we build towards our vision of becoming Southeast Asia’s everyday super app. Ultimately, we want to serve more of the everyday needs most relevant to consumers’ lives. At the same time it’s about improving livelihoods. With GrabFresh, we’ll be creating more income opportunities for our GrabExpress drivers, delivery partners and also personal shoppers.”

Mediko Azwar, Marketing Director, Grab Indonesia said, “With GrabFresh, we’re expanding into the largest category of household expenditure in the region, and we couldn’t have done so with a better partner than HappyFresh. HappyFresh’s established relationships with a large network of supermarket and specialty grocery chains means GrabFresh users can order typical grocery items found in stores like Ranch Market, Farmers Market, Lotte Mart, Transmart Carrefour, Super Indo, Grand Lucky, Red&White, and LOKA Lifestyle Supermarket, depending on their location and what is within proximity. GrabFresh currently has a selection of over 20,000 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) and we are constantly adding new products and stores.”

GrabFresh, powered by HappyFresh, offers various value-added benefits:

  • Grocery shopping at your fingertips, wherever you are – whether in the comfort of your home or while stuck in traffic.
  • The widest selection of fresh produce, food and household products, through partnerships with more than 30 large supermarkets and speciality grocery chains.
  • Daily price and inventory updates, to ensure high accuracy and to avoid ‘out of stock’ situations.
  • Highly trained personal shoppers who help customers to pick the right items and can respond to specific instructions.
  • Flexibility and convenience to have GrabExpress drivers and delivery partners deliver items right to your doorstep, when you want it, either within the next hour or at a preferred delivery slot.
  • Cost efficiency and value-added benefits through promotions and special discounts from supporting merchants.

Fajar Budiprasetyo, Co-Founder and CTO of HappyFresh said, “We are delighted and proud to partner with Grab. The large number of couriers that they have allows us to add more delivery slots and improve delivery time. Furthermore, with Grab’s extensive user base in Southeast Asia, we believe that Grab is the best possible partner to help us scale and expand, even as we remain focused on our strengths, which is serving customers with the best range of products and best possible customer experience through highly trained personal shoppers.”

The vision of Grab as an everyday super app comes to life in a refreshed Grab app, which has been rolled out to all Grab users in Indonesia on the latest version of the app. With the new app layout, Grab is empowering people to access more services, more experiences, and more solutions in an intuitive and personal way. In addition to the new home screen, the platform also provides a seamless user experience that will address more daily lifestyle needs, including payments, delivery, and everyday services, equipped with a news feed that helps users discover news, games, widgets, and stories beyond Grab.

Users can access GrabFresh by tapping on the ‘Groceries’ icon on the Grab app home screen and look out for attractive deals and special discounts! Beyond Jakarta, GrabFresh will also be available in Thailand and Malaysia by the end of 2018.
