Bandung, 26 December 2018 – At the end of 2018, Grab, the leading online-to-offline (O2O) mobile platform in Southeast Asia, and the Bandung City Government announced a strategic partnership to improve the quality of Bandung’s public services that was officially marked by signing the partnership agreement today. The partnership aims to support and maximize the potential of Bandung city’s programs by empowering Grab driver-partners in Bandung.

The Grab and Bandung City Government partnership agreement signing was held at the Bandung City pavilion by Mr Oded M Danial, Bandung Mayor, and Mr Yose Tireza Arizal, Area Head for West Java Grab Indonesia, in front of Bandung City Government staff and 200 selected driver-partners in Bandung.

“Grab’s commitment is not limited to overcoming the various transportation challenges in Indonesia,” explained Yose Tireza Arizal, Area Head of West Java Grab Indonesia. “We also want to help the government to maximize the potential of the tourism, transportation, environmental empowerment, and digital infrastructure sectors. With the support of the Grab driver-partner network in Bandung, we are confident that we can improve the effectiveness of the Bandung city program, especially regarding socialization in the community. This strategic partnership will begin by supporting the mayor of Bandung’s Movement for Reducing, Separating and Using (KangPisMan) to encourage behavioral changes of people in Bandung related to waste. This is an important early step for us to be able to continue to support and help the Bandung City Government’s program succeed in the future.”

Bandung Mayor, Oded M Danial, said he appreciated Grab’s initiative in supporting the Bandung city program: “I appreciate this partnership, which is expected to enhance further the synergy that has been built between the Bandung City Government, and Grab. This collaboration is part of Grab’s real participation in playing an active role in solving problems, especially in presenting employment and improving services in the public transportation industry. In addition, I also urge the driver-partners to keep paying attention to safety by obeying traffic laws so they can always provide the best service for the community.”

Although the potential of Bandung to become a smart city that excels in the transportation, environment, and tourism sectors is quite high, Bandung City Government still faces a challenge to increase public awareness. Therefore, through this strategic partnership, the Bandung City Government hopes that Grab can help socialize Bandung city’s programs to all levels of society.

Throughout 2018, Grab has successfully expanded its services from 12 cities in early 2017 to 222 cities in Indonesia. This achievement strengthens its position as O2O mobile platform with the broadest coverage in Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke. Today, the Grab application has been downloaded onto more than 125 million mobile devices, giving users access to more than 8 million drivers, merchants, and agents. Grab has the region’s largest land transportation fleet and has completed more than 2.5 billion rides since it was founded in 2012. Grab offers the widest range of on-demand transport services in the region, in addition to food and package delivery services, across 235 cities in eight countries.
