Jakarta, 17 January 2017 – Grab, the leading ride-hailing platform in Southeast Asia, successfully collected 64,546 items during its Delivering Happyness campaign, an initiative that allows anyone to donate new and pre-loved books, clothes, stationery and toys to underprivileged kids – at zero cost and effort. Grab managed to exceed the initial target, which was 20,000 items – a result that highlights tremendous support from Grab’s customers towards its commitment to improve Southeast Asia’s livelihood.

Ridzki Kramadibrata, Managing Director Grab Indonesia, said, “We are very pleased to announce that we have surpassed the initial target, and we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this program. It is very heartwarming for us to see the remarkable support from the community to solve local problems. We also would thank our partners, Lippo Malls for their support in providing the donation drop-off points at their malls and Dilts Foundation that will assist us in handing out these donated items to the children in Jabodetabek area who need it most. We hope that all the collected goods will be beneficial to the recipients.”

During the two-weeks campaign period that started from 12 – 24 December 2016, Indonesia managed to collect 16,398 items. The donation will be distributed by Dilts Foundation – a non-profit organization that strives to give poor children a chance at a better life – to 2,600 underserved children throughout 26 shelter houses in Dilts Foundation’s network.

Delivering Happyness is part of Grab’s commitment to improve lives in Southeast Asia. It is an extension of a similar campaign that was rolled out in 2013 in Malaysia to deliver 2,000 pre-loved books and toys to rural libraries. The campaign was a simple and honest effort to match donors to drivers.

“We are very happy to see the enthusiasm from the public, and we definitely look forward to hold such donation program in the future.” Ridzki concluded.
