Jakarta, December 6th 2017 – Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transportation and mobile payment platform, announces its participation as the Official Mobile Platform Partner for Transportation and F&B Delivery in Asia’s largest and most prestigious sporting event, Asian Games 2018 set to take place from August 18th to September 2nd 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang.

The signing of Grab’s cooperation agreement as one of Asian Games 2018’s prestige sponsor is done by Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) Chief Executive Officer Erick Thohir and Grab Indonesia’s Managing Director Ridzki Kramadibrata, witnessed by Indonesia’s Vice President, Mr. Drs. H. Muhammad Jusuf Kalla at Indonesia’s Vice President’s Office located in Jakarta.

“As stated previously, the multiple sponsorship signing today shows the trust and support from businesses, whether it is local private businesses or international businesses for the success of Asian Games 2018. It is considered a very healthy boost for the committee to work harder, faster, more efficient, and more accountable,” said Erick Thohir, Chief Executive Officer of Indonesia Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC), on Wednesday (6/12/2017).

Erick added that Grab’s participation as the Official Mobile Platform Partner for Transportation and F&B Delivery helps mitigate traffic issues in the Indonesian capital while also pampering the Asian athletes and media representatives.

Grab is proud to be the first mobile platform partner for transportation and F&B delivery company that sponsors the 18th edition of Asian Games where top athletes are fighting their way to grab 462 gold medals. The goal for gold is perfectly in line with Grab’s recent achievement in expanding its services to 100 cities in Indonesia spanning from Aceh all the way to Papua.

“The fighting spirit from the athletes lit the fire in us to deliver the best experience possible as part of making this edition of Asian Games a memorable and monumental achievement to Indonesia. We will make sure that this participation contributes to all the success of this event. Grab’s promise goes beyond geographical proximity, we are bringing our users closer to every second of this monumental event and unite the energy of Asia through our service that is spread across all regions of Indonesia,” said Ridzki Kramadibrata, Managing Director of Grab Indonesia.

“We truly appreciate Grab’s contribution and commitment through their participation in Asian Games 2018. Mobility is a vital aspect of this event and we entrust this aspect – mobility and food delivery for athletes, officials, and spectators – to Grab, who is more than experienced in this area,” Erick added.

Hosting the Asian Games in Indonesia is a matter of national pride for Indonesia. We look forward to supporting the Indonesian Asian Games Organisation Committee (INASGOC)  to bring Indonesia’s renowned hospitality to all of Asia, and showcase her status as one of the world’s emerging economies. Let’s make the 18th edition of Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang a great memory for all involved” Ridzki closed.

Along with other sponsors, Grab takes part in a very important milestone for Indonesia. Asian Games Jakarta Palembang 2018 is the second time for Indonesia to host this prestigious event. Athletes from 45 participating countries will travel within two cities – Jakarta and Palembang – using Grab’s two-wheel and four-wheel transportation solution.

As the Official Mobile Platform Partner for Transportation and F&B Delivery, Grab will serve the transportation needs of over 15,000 athletes, officials, and hundreds of thousands of spectators  coming from all over the globe to Jakarta and Palembang.
