Jakarta, 30 September 2016 – Welcoming the upcoming National Batik Day, Grab announced GrabBatik, a special program from the Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing platform, to show utmost appreciation to Indonesian and local heritage. Through GrabBatik, Grab brings a series of exciting events for both Grab’s partners and passengers.

“Batik, as the Indonesian cultural icon, is an integral part of Indonesian life. As the nation celebrates National Batik Day, Grab wants to take the opportunity to showcase our gratitude to our partners and passengers. Through GrabBatik, Grab will hand out 300 pairs of Batik shirt to GrabBike bikers and their partners, who have been supporting Grab ever since we first entered the market. Grab strongly believes that it takes a huge effort from numerous parties, for Grab to be the leading ride-hailing platform in Indonesia at this moment, and Grab’s partners are substantial components of it,” said Mediko Azwar, Marketing Director, Grab Indonesia.

In harmony with GrabBatik, GrabCar and GrabTaxi Promo also offer 75% discount for 10 trips, applicable only to new users who has never taken a GrabCar or GrabTaxi Promo before. This promo is valid until 2 October 2016, with promotion code COBAGRABCAR. As the cherry on top, this promotion is enlivened with social media competition for GrabCar new and existing users.

Mediko further added, “We are thankful for the support given by Indonesians and we want to return this loyalty and support by working harder to provide reliable rides for Indonesians. We have a special contest for GrabCar users for a chance to win premium Batik clothes. They only need to wear Batik and take a selfie with GrabCar driver who also wears Batik then tag to our Instagram account, @GrabID. Don’t forget to mention and follow us, also include your booking ID and #GrabBatik hashtag.”

In 2016, GrabBike business has grown 300% year-to-date in Indonesia, while reducing bike subsidies per completed ride by 50%, highlighting Grab’s strong user engagement and stickiness of its multi-service platform.

While, the GrabCar business demonstrate strong performance, growing more than 250 times since mid-2015.  Today, private cars and bikes comprise the vast majority of Grab’s overall business, which also includes taxi-hailing and delivery services.
