Grab Connects Young Talents with Their Passion for Fashion through Jakarta Fashion Week 2018

Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing and mobile payments platform, proudly wrap-up-in during the Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2018, the biggest annual fashion event in Southeast Asia. Jakarta, 24 October 2017 – Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing and mobile payments platform, proudly wrap-up-in during the Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2018, the biggest annual fashion event in Southeast Asia. During this event, Grab embraces a theme “Grab with Gusto!” to perfectly reflects its social mission to connect people not only from point-to-point, but also with what matters to them, including their passions.

Besides serving as the official transportation partner to provide a safe, comfortable, and hassle-free ride experience to and from Senayan City Mall, Grab is also holding a competition for young talented designers to redesign its GrabBike jacket and collaborate with Rani Hatta to give mentoring for the finalists of this competition. This activity aims to appreciate their passion and showcase Indonesians unique potential in the fashion industry to the wider audiences.

Mediko Azwar, Marketing Director of Grab Indonesia said, “Providing the platform for these young designers is an extension of one of our core values, which is passion. We hope that the mentorship prize help the winner sharpen their skills in fashion design.”

The GrabBike jacket design competition has been conducted since 6 October 2017 and six finalists from 87 entrants have already been selected. The winner will be announced after the finalists showcase their design on the runway tonight at 7 PM at the Main Atrium of Senayan City Mall, Jakarta. To enliven the moment, Mediko Azwar, Marketing Director of Grab Indonesia, Rani Hatta, Indonesian Fashion Designer, Ai Syarif, Creative Advisor Jakarta Fashion Week, Zoey Rasjid, Publisher of the leading Indonesian men magazine – The Folio, and Deden Siswanto, Indonesian fashion designer will be attended the event and simultaneously become the judges of the competition.

Rani Hatta, Indonesian fashion designer, said, “I feel honored and delightful to be the mentor as well as one of the judges of GrabBike jacket design competition. Through this collaboration, we want to appreciate and empower young talented designer with their tremendous creative idea to redesign the GrabBike jacket as part of raising local designer and show that they have great talent and able to compete globally. JFW has become a platform for fashion enthusiast to enjoy the current fashion trend. I believe that this year’s show will fulfill the dreams of many players in the local creative industry to make Indonesia as one of the world’s major destination for fashion.”

The winner of GrabBike jacket design competition will receive various exclusive prizes from Grab, including:

  • Each jacket design from six finalists will be published on Fashion Pages in prominent Indonesian fashion-lifestyle magazine, such as Dewi, Femina, Grazia, Girl, and The Folio.
  • The winner will receive cash worth of IDR 10,000,000 from Grab and his/her design will be produced in mass production.
  • The winner will stand a chance to get mentoring from Rani Hatta, Indonesian fashion designer during consummate the GrabBike jacket.
