OVO, Grab, and Tokopedia Channels New Hope for Orphans in Indonesia

OVO, Grab and Tokopedia, through its collective Patungan Untuk Berbagi program, collected IDR11B donation to ensure sustainable education for orphans of Indonesia.

Jakarta, 6 August 2019 – OVO, Grab and Tokopedia, through its collective Patungan Untuk Berbagi program, collected IDR11B donation to ensure sustainable education for orphans of Indonesia. As the culmination of the campaign, #PatunganUntukBerbagi, in collaboration with Rumah Yatim, simultaneously disburse the donation to over 30,000 orphans in 18 provinces in Indonesia, from Aceh to West Papua. Donations are distributed as school supplies packages and scholarships, ensuring the continuation of basic education requirements, up until high school.

OVO, Grab and Tokopedia users enjoyed a seamless donation experience through all three apps, underlining the ease and growing comfort of Indonesian users in utilizing digital means to spread their goodwill during the Ramadan. Within less than 30 seconds, users can easily complete their donation and become part of Indonesian orphans future.

Vice President Director Rumah Yatim, Lili Herliana Abdurrahman, said, “Thus far, we’ve successfully distributed 30,000 school kit packages, 2.400 uniform packages and 5,000 scholarships to orphans in 56 cities in 18 provinces in Indonesia. We hope that this donation from OVO, Grab, and Tokopedia users can enable them to become an independent, excelling, and upright generation.”

Director OVO, Harianto Gunawan, said “Since the beginning of Patungan Untuk Berbagi program, OVO along with Tokopedia and Grab aimed to deliver bigger impact for the society. One of them is providing more feasible and sustainable education for orphans in Indonesia. We hope the result of program continues to bring blessing for those who needed it. We will continue to educate users how to use technologies for good causes.”

Through the collaboration of these three biggest digital ecosystems, we are hoping that the support and donation can be distributed to encourage Indonesian underprivileged children to achieve their dreams through education.”

The collaboration of these three technology companies is expected to give a sustainable impact for society. OVO, Grab, and Tokopedia will conduct more actions to break the chain of poverty through creating a better economy. The cooperation of the three largest digital ecosystems in Indonesia is expected to underline the use of technology for good.
