Grab Launches ‘GrabCar Plus’ to Offer Higher Quality Ride-Hailing Experience for Passengers

  • Experience more comfortable, higher service quality rides with top-rated drivers and newer cars
  • Reduce waiting times and get a ride faster as more cars are made available to meet increasing passenger demands for prioritised bookings

Bangkok – 3 August 2017 – Passengers will get to enjoy faster ride bookings and a higher service quality ride journey, with the launch of ‘GrabCar Plus’, a new ride-hailing service by Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transportation and mobile payments platform. Passengers of ‘GrabCar Plus’ will benefit from consistently high service quality from Grab’s driver partners with a 4.8 and above star rating (out of 5 stars) as well as the comfort of travelling in newer vehicles that are no more than 5 years old.

With ‘GrabCar Plus’, Grab will make a wider variety of vehicles available to meet the increasing needs of passengers who would like to enjoy prioritised ride bookings and a more comfortable ride experience to get from point-to-point during peak hours.

On top of these higher service standards, passengers will continue to enjoy the existing suite of safety measures that Grab has introduced to enhance overall passenger, driver and road safety. These safety features include a vehicle tracking GPS system; a ‘Share My Ride’ feature which allows passengers to share driver’s details, estimated time of arrival and real-time location with their loved ones; an in-app 191 button to ‘dial’ in times of emergency; predictive data analytics and telematics which identifies dangerous driving behavior such as speeding and personal accident insurance coverage for both driver partners and passengers on every Grab ride in Southeast Asia.

Passengers will enjoy flexible payment options which include cash or GrabPay (debit, credit card or GrabPay Credits). Every ride will also accumulate points which passengers can use to redeem rewards or other privileges under GrabRewards programme.

Yee Wee Tang, Country Head of Grab Thailand, said: “Grab is constantly thinking of new ways to enhance our passengers’ ride experience. During peak hours, we observed that passengers, primarily business executives and white collar workers, want to reduce their waiting times for pick-ups and at the same time, enjoy a more comfortable ride experience amidst heavy traffic. The launch of ‘GrabCar Plus’ seeks to cater to the needs of these passengers, coupled with higher service standard from our top-rated driver partners and greater comfort from riding in newer vehicles. This is part of our commitment to make commuting easier, safer and more convenient for our passengers.”

‘GrabCar Plus’ adds to Grab’s transport offerings in Thailand ranging from commercial taxis (GrabTaxi), private-hire cars (GrabCar) to motorcycles (GrabBike) – a combination that aims to connect Thailand’s mobility ecosystem across all modes of transport to improve people’s daily transit experience.
