Grab Thailand kicks off “Grab The Future Year 5”

.

Grab Thailand continued the Grab The Future campaign for the fifth consecutive year under the “Lifetime Learning For All” concept, offering scholarships totaling over THB 1 million to the children of Grab driver- and merchant-partners. The initiative aimed to promote lifelong learning and support education for all partners, as well as their families, of the Grab business ecosystem. The scholarships award ceremony was also honored by Dr. Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, Deputy Minister of Education, who delivered the opening remarks at Thammasat Association.

Worachat Luxkanalode, Executive Director of Grab Thailand, said “Grab The Future project was initiated in 2018 to provide scholarships to support the children of Grab driver-partners with academic excellence or outstanding activity performance. The project is part of Grab’s mission in enhancing the quality of life for our partners as well as their families. For the past four years, Grab has been providing scholarships to the children of our partners from over 700 families. To reinforce our role as a platform that supports lifelong learning for all partners in the ecosystem, Grab has launched the fifth year of ‘Grab The Future’ under the “Lifetime Learning For All” concept, offering scholarships totaling THB 1,070,000 to 214 children. This year, we also extended the scholarship opportunity to the children of our merchant-partners, while encouraging users to support this initiative by applying the ‘DONATE’ code when using Grab services. THB 10 collected from every service was contributed to support the scholarships of our partners’ children.”

Dr. Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, Deputy Minister of Education, added “Active learning and continuous self-improvement are essential in this disruption era filled with ever-changing circumstances. Digital knowledge became significant in every aspect of our daily life. To uplift the potential of our people with an enhanced competitive edge in the global arena, the Ministry of Education is dedicated to promoting digital skills development for Thai people, together with important knowledge in response to the rising demand for today’s workforce. The inclusion of coding or a computer programming language is one of the key education reform policies. We are glad to see a private sector like Grab Thailand launching The ‘Grab The Future’ project to provide educational support for the community. Not only does it bring the educational opportunity for the children, who will be our future national workforce, but also promotes the importance of learning among people which is increasingly significant for career and business growth in the future.”

Besides the scholarships award ceremony, Grab also hosted special activities to promote the ‘GrabAcademy,’ an online learning platform for the driver- and merchant-partners. The driver and merchant representatives were also invited to share their experiences in applying knowledge from GrabAcademy courses to advance their service and enhance their businesses. Their inspiring stories proved to others the importance of lifelong learning.

“Grab Thailand will continue to uplift the quality of life through educational support. It is a part of our core mission of ‘GrabForGood,’ aiming to promote the use of technology and platform to leverage earning opportunity, as well as, advancing competitive skill sets for all partners to stay relevant in the digital economy,” Worachat said.
