Chula BBA Students Win “GrabSpark 2025” Competition Introducing “GrabMed,” an Innovative Telehealth Business Concept
.
Grab Thailand continues its commitment to nurturing the next generation of business leaders through GrabSpark 2025, its annual business case competition aimed at fostering creativity, strategic thinking, data-driven analysis, and future-ready service design among university students nationwide. Standing out among more than 200 teams from 30 universities across Thailand, Team “Grabriela” from the Business Administration on International Program (or BBA) at Chulalongkorn University secured first place with “GrabMed,” a telehealth business concept focused on enhancing healthcare accessibility in Thailand.
The proposal demonstrated strong potential for real-world application and platform scalability, supported by in-depth research and a clear understanding of unmet needs within the healthcare sector. The team also identified opportunities to expand into Thailand’s healthcare market, valued at approximately THB 1.4 trillion*, highlighting their ability to translate market insights into a feasible and scalable solution.
Now in its fourth consecutive year, GrabSpark 2025 was organized under the theme “Leading the Next Frontier: Strategies to Thrive in a Shifting Economy”. The competition attracted over 800 young talents from 30 universities nationwide, challenging participants to develop business plans that are both commercially viable and capable of being integrated across Grab’s ecosystem, including mobility and deliveries, and digital infrastructure.
Finalists were evaluated by a panel comprising Grab Thailand’s senior executives and distinguished industry experts. Judging criteria covered depth of research, creativity, feasibility, and the ability to deliver meaningful social impact.
Chantsuda Thananitayaudom, Country Head of Grab Thailand stated, “GrabSpark is more than just a competition—it is a platform that helps cultivate a new generation of entrepreneurs who understand today’s rapidly evolving business landscape and are capable of developing ideas that can be applied in real-world contexts.”
“The GrabMed proposal reflects structured strategic thinking, comprehensive analysis, and a service design aligned with future trends. It also demonstrates how young innovators can create sustainable business value while delivering positive social impact, particularly in high-potential sectors such as telehealth.”
Chaiyapat Rattanawanvimol, a representative of Team Grabriela from Chulalongkorn University’s BBA Program, shared the inspiration behind the concept “We identified an opportunity to extend Grab’s ecosystem into the telehealth space, which remains a high-demand yet underserved market. GrabMed was envisioned as an end-to-end telehealth solution that connects patients with medical professionals via the Grab app, supported by on-demand medication delivery.”
“Our research highlighted persistent challenges, such as hospital overcrowding and long waiting times, often three to six hours for non-critical patients, affecting over 100,000 people daily. By leveraging Grab’s existing ecosystem, we believe GrabMed can help alleviate these pain points while making healthcare access faster, more convenient, and more efficient”.
Designed to further strengthen Grab’s ecosystem, GrabMed integrates existing services such as GrabMart for medication fulfillment and GrabPay Wallet or PayLater by Grab for seamless payment options. The proposal also outlines a B2B2C (Business-to-Business-to-Consumer) partnership strategy with leading organizations to enhance credibility, encourage word-of-mouth adoption, and accelerate user growth in Thailand’s emerging telehealth market.
First launched in 2022, the GrabSpark business case competition is part of GrabCampus, an initiative aimed at developing the potential of undergraduate students in Thailand. The competition offers total prizes valued at over THB 100,000, along with fast-track entry into the GrabIntern program, providing winning teams with hands-on experience at Grab Thailand and exposure to real-world digital platform operations.
