Grab Thailand has launched the “Grab Part-Time for Thais” initiative, encouraging vocational students, university students, and public sector personnel—including military officers, police officers, and civil servants—to earn additional income during their free time by providing ride-hailing and delivery services on its platform. 

Chantsuda Thananitayaudom, Country Head of Grab Thailand, commented, “Against the backdrop of today’s economic conditions, many Thais, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, are taking on side hustles to supplement their income. These range from freelancing and social selling to content creation and providing services via digital platforms. This trend is also gaining traction among students looking to earn money to help ease their families’ financial burden, while maintaining flexibility and freedom in their lifestyles.”

“As a leading digital platform, Grab is committed to harnessing technology to create opportunities and broaden access to income for Thais from all walks of life, regardless of gender, age, occupation, or educational background. Over the past six months (January – June 2026), the number of drivers and riders using Grab to earn additional income grew by 68% compared with the same period last year.”

“In response to this growing side-hustle trend, we recently launched the ‘Grab Part-Time for Thais’ project to provide students and full-time workers with alternative ways to earn income in their spare time. This is open to public sector personnel, including military officers, police officers, and civil servants who can provide services during their off-duty hours or weekends. We also plan to expand the initiative to other interested organizations in the future,” added Chantsuda.

Grab has begun piloting the project through partnerships with organizations that recognize the potential of digital platforms to create economic opportunities for their personnel. Key partners include various educational institutions nationwide, as well as the Ministry of Defence, the Royal Thai Army, and the Royal Thai Air Force.

Through this project, Grab conducts outreach activities and offers a fast-track application process. On-site staff provide onboarding guidance, while applicants benefit from free service equipment (jackets and insulated delivery bags) and special incentives upon meeting service targets.
