Grab Thailand reinforces its leading position as a leading ride-hailing platform by expanding its on-demand transportation services to cater to consumers of all age groups with the launch of the “Grab For Family | Teens”. The feature is designed to enhance safe travel for users aged 13 to 19—covering both Gen Alpha and Gen Z — allowing them to travel independently while prioritizing peace of mind for parents. The enhanced safety measures include Top-Rated Driver Matching, Ride PIN Verification, Always-on AudioProtect, and Real-Time Trip Monitoring with alerts in case of any emergencies.

For over 12 years, we have been committed to innovating and enhancing safety standards across our platform to ensure that both passengers and drivers feel confident and secure when using Grab. Our efforts include stringent background checks on drivers, with a requirement for a clean seven-year criminal record, and verification of their identity through biometric facial recognition before providing services. We have also introduced technology–led safety features such as Share My Ride, which enables passengers share their real-time trip monitoring with friends and family; the Safety Centre for immediate access to emergency assistance; and the AudioProtect for audio recording during a ride to be used as evidence in case of any disputes; as well as the SOS button and KartaDashcams installed in vehicles to capture in-car footage during the ride.”

Grab For Family | Teens includes four enhanced safety measures:

• Top-Rated Drivers: Teen travellers will be matched only with top-rated drivers who have consistently high service reviews.
• Ride PIN Verification: Teens must enter a PIN code from the driver before starting the ride, helping ensure they board the correct vehicle.
• Always-on AudioProtect: All car rides are automatically audio recorded to help prevent incidents and provide evidence in case of any unforeseen events. In the future, Grab plans to integrate GenAI technology to detect in real-time if anything dangerous is happening in the car, so the support team can intervene immediately.
• Family Monitoring: Parents can track rides in real time and receive alerts in case of disputes, such as off-route driving, unplanned stops, or  the ride being ended prematurely.

Grab also plans to expand teen-focused safety technologies across different services. Upcoming enhancements include restricting access to age-restricted items on the platform, hiding advertisements for restricted products from youth users, and limiting GrabPay Wallet top-up options for teens by disabling credit card use. These measures reflect Grab’s commitment to building a safe and responsible digital ecosystem for users of all generations, especially younger users who are expected to become a major user group in the future.
