Grab Elevates Transport Experience at Suvarnabhumi Airport With 12-Lane Pick-Up Point Expansion and Two New Features

.

Grab Thailand is upgrading its on-demand ride-hailing services at Suvarnabhumi Airport in preparation for welcoming incoming tourists during the upcoming peak season, when airport ride bookings typically grow by 35-40%[1] in Q4 compared to non-peak periods. Enhancements include expanding the passenger pick-up area to 12 lanes and introducing two new features: PIN (a smart queue-management system) and Airport Pickup (an advanced booking service for airport rides with real-time flight tracking). The move aims to support Thailand’s tourism industry by making airport transfers more convenient, efficient, and seamless for both international and domestic travellers.

Arisa Lorthongpaisarn, Director of Mobility and Driver Operations, Grab Thailand, said, “Tourism is a key driver of Thailand’s economy, with airports serving as the frontline welcome point for visitors from around the world. According to Airports of Thailand (AOT), Suvarnabhumi Airport is projected to welcome up to 67.7 million passengers in 2026.[2] Ensuring the airport is equipped to handle this influx is a top priority, particularly during the Q4 high travel season”

“As AOT’s official ride-hailing partner, Grab has expanded its designated pick-up zone at Suvarnabhumi Airport to 12 lanes, located on Level 1 at Gate 4, to improve passenger convenience and create a positive first impression. Simultaneously, we have launched the ‘PIN’ feature to streamline queue management and cut waiting times. Following a one-month pilot, this feature reduced passenger wait times by nearly 40%[3], while 98% of users rated their experience five stars.[4]”

PIN: Streamline Queues, Get Matched Faster

  • Tailored specifically for Suvarnabhumi Airport, the PIN feature helps organize passenger queues and match users with available drivers, reducing waiting times and congestion at the pick-up area.
  • Easy to follow in a few steps. After selecting the “Grab Pick-up Point” when booking a ride, passengers will receive a four-digit PIN once the booking is confirmed (without immediately assigning a specific vehicle or driver). The system then directs passengers to the designated queue at Grab’s passenger pick-up area (lane A-D) on Level 1, Gate 4, where they can simply provide their PIN to a waiting driver to confirm the ride and board.
  • For a better experience, Grab’s on-site team is available 24/7 to assist passengers with bookings, queue management, and boarding.

Airport Pickup: Pre-Book, Track Your Flight, Travel with Peace of Mind

  • Set to launch at Suvarnabhumi Airport in the last quarter, the Airport Pickup feature is designed to make travellers’ lives easier, following the successful launch at Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai airports. Travellers can pre-book their ride, enter their flight number, and choose a preferred pick-up time based on Grab’s recommended time or their own schedule, making it easier to plan their journey after landing.
  • With real-time flight tracking, the Airport Pickup feature automatically adjusts the pick-up time to reflect the actual flight arrival delays. The service also guarantees on-time pick-up, with drivers waiting at the designated pick-up point for up to 15 minutes. Users can cancel the booking up to one hour before the scheduled pick-up time.
  • Passengers can meet their drivers at Grab’s pick-up area on Level 1, Gate 4, at Lane E. The service supports three fleet options: GrabCar, JustGrab, and GrabTaxi.
