Grab Achieves 1 Million Orders Through Kon La Krueng Plus

.

Grab, Thailand’s No. 1 food delivery platform, announced today the initial success of its participation in the “Kon La Krueng Plus” co-payment scheme, which has significantly stimulated the economy and boosted spending on the platform—particularly among food and beverage businesses. Grab recorded over 1 million orders since the programme launched, while participating merchants saw their sales increase by an average of 3 times compared to normal periods.

Grab also revealed consumer insights showing that most users used Kon La Krueng Plus for lunch orders, with average order values ranging from THB 80–120. Popular single-dish meals included papaya salad, noodles, and fried chicken, while Thai tea was the most ordered beverage. The provinces with the highest usage on delivery platforms were Bangkok, followed by Chonburi, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Chiang Mai.

Chantsuda Thananitayaudom, Country Head of Grab Thailand, commented, “The Kon La Krueng Plus programme has received overwhelming interest from both consumers and food merchants, supported by government subsidies that truly help stimulate spending—especially for food businesses. This impact is not limited to in-store purchases, but is also clearly reflected in food delivery orders.”

“As a leading food delivery platform, Grab is fully committed to supporting the government’s policy and contributing to this initiative. We have launched a special campaign offering a range of benefits for merchant-partners nationwide, including a 7% commission rate for participating merchants, free delivery within 5 km, additional discounts of up to THB 3,000 to encourage consumer spending and many more”

“In this phase, the number of merchants registering to participate in the programme with Grab has increased by more than 50%, including many small and street food vendors. At the same time, we have seen strong consumer enthusiasm from day one, leading us to reach 1 million orders within a few days since the programme’s launch. Besides, participating merchants have enjoyed an average sales growth of more than 3 times, underscoring the success of the government’s Big Quick Win policy,” highlighted Chantsuda.

In addition, Grab provided several insights into consumer behavior during the first five days of the Kon La Krueng Plus programme:

  • Most users placed orders worth THB 80–120, followed by orders within THB 120–150.
  • The highest-value order was THB 2,935, for a beef steak from Heng Charoen Butchery in the Lat Phrao area.
  • Lunchtime (11:00–12:00) was the peak ordering period.
  • Ordering frequency increased significantly, with the number of users placing two or more orders per day rising 2.5 times compared to normal.
  • The most-ordered dishes were papaya salad, followed by noodles and fried chicken. The top beverages were Thai tea, green tea/matcha, and iced cocoa.
  • The merchant with the highest sales surge was “Yu Nee – Stir-Fry, Fried Rice, Steak” in Bangkok, with sales increasing by 18 times—from hundreds of baht to tens of thousands.
  • “Pasta Bo” in Charan 35 area achieved a record high with average daily sales exceeding THB 50,000.
  • The top five provinces with the highest Kon La Krueng Plus delivery usage were Bangkok, Chonburi, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Chiang Mai.

“The Kon La Krueng Plus programme not only stimulates consumer spending and drives higher sales for our merchant-partners, but also generates positive impact across the entire ecosystem. Delivery riders have seen their average hourly earnings increase by 13% since the programme began. Likewise, suppliers and distributors of food and beverage ingredients—important adjacent industries—have benefited from increased activity.”

“Grab will continue to support the next phases of the government’s Kon La Krueng Plus programme as part of our commitment to driving macroeconomic stimulation and advancing the country’s digital economy, especially during a period when many are facing economic challenges,” added Chantsuda.
