Grab Introduces New Transport services to Better Serve the Needs of Consumers in Thailand

  • The addition of more new transport services -GrabCar Plus and JustGrab - reinforce Grab’s commitment to serve the Thai ride-hailing market
  • The expanded GrabRewards programme with more than 150 merchants across SEA coming on board creates more value for passengers for every ride they take on Grab
  • The new ‘Grab SuperCar’ campaign offers GrabCar Plus passengers the chance to win free luxury rides in a Bentley, Porsche or Tesla

Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand transportation and mobile payments platform, today announces its expanded suite of transport offerings to better cater to the needs of consumers in Thailand. Consumers will also get to enjoy an expanded GrabRewards loyalty programme and stand the chance to win free luxury rides on a Bentley, Porsche or Tesla from now till 21 September 2017 as part of the newly launched ‘Grab SuperCar’ campaign.

Mr. Yee Wee Tang, Country Head of Grab Thailand, said: “Before introducing new service offerings to the market, we listen to our consumers and understand their pain points. JustGrab and GrabCar Plus were introduced to allow our passengers to get their ride much faster, while GrabRewards aimed to reward our loyal GrabPay users for every dollar they spent on a Grab ride. This is also a real revenue driver for our merchant partners who are leveraging our platform to market their products and build their consumer base.”

GrabCar Plus is a new service for passengers who would like to enjoy prioritised ride bookings. They will also get to benefit from higher service quality from Grab’s driver partners with a 4.8 and above star rating (out of 5 stars) as well as the comfort of travelling in newer vehicles that are no more than 5 years old.

Recently, Grab also announced its expansion of JustGrab service to Bangkok following our successful launch in Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani and Khon Khaen. Grab is the first to launch this new and innovative service which combines GrabTaxi and GrabCar vehicles to offer the largest supply of on-demand vehicles for passengers in Thailand. With JustGrab, passengers can enjoy shorter waiting time for rides and know their GrabTaxi or GrabCar trip fares in advance before making the booking. Both GrabCar Plus and JustGrab services add to Grab’s latest transport offerings for consumers in Thailand and reinforces Grab’s commitment to serve the Thai ride-hailing market.

Grab is by far the #1 on-demand transportation platform in Southeast Asia with a market share of 95% in third-party taxi-hailing and 71% in private vehicle hailing. According to TNS, a global market research firm, passengers use Grab’s services most often in Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, compared to other ride-hailing applications and taxi booking applications. In Thailand, two-thirds (66%)[1] of passengers surveyed use Grab’s services most often, compared to another ride-hailing application with only 19% of consumers using them more often. The remaining 16% of consumers use either the taxi-booking application of a traditional taxi operator or other motorbike-hailing applications most often.

Grab also recently launched an expanded GrabRewards loyalty programme. Following the introduction of GrabRewards in 2016, Grab is the first ride-hailing service provider to launch a loyalty programme for passengers to create more value from every ride. The GrabRewards programme now consists of 150 merchant partners, including F&B, hospitality, lifestyle, retail, travel and leisure-related brands. In addition to Grab Thailand’s flagship partners such as Central, iFlix, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and Nok Air, the company now brings on board music streaming giant, Spotify as its latest partner. The special offers under this partnership include 60 days of free trial for Grab’s passengers who fills in promo code “SPOTIFYTH” from September 8 to October 7, 2017 and 2,300 points redemption of GrabRewards for Spotify’s monthly subscription fee.

“The expanded GrabRewards loyalty programme with more than 150 partners across SEA reflects strong trust of Grab’s large consumer base and affirms the potential of GrabPay as a safe and convenient e-payment option in Thailand,” said Ms. Paradee Sinthawanarong, Country Marketing Head of Grab Thailand. “With more than 59 million mobile downloads across 7 countries in Southeast Asia and a growing consumer base in Thailand, we believe that more leading merchants will see GrabPay as their revenue driver. By giving our loyal GrabPay users access to more targeted rewards, we want them to enjoy more valuable benefits – beyond providing safe and affordable transport. We will continue to expand our partnership portfolio and come up with more exciting and rewarding offers for our passengers in the near future.”

To further reward our passengers who choose to travel with Grab, the company is also launching a ‘Grab SuperCar’ campaign. From now until September 21, 2017, passengers who book a GrabCar Plus ride might win a chance to get a free ride on luxury cars such as Bentley, Porsche or Tesla.
