  • Strong bench of leading food partners joins hands with Grab to bring about the best on-demand food delivery experience for consumers - from exciting value set menus to massive promotional deals
  • BANGKOK, 17th May 2019 Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading super app, today celebrated its phenomenal achievement of 4 million orders in the first 4 months of 2019 with consumers and merchant-partners by launching the ‘GrabFood x STARVINGTIME Mega Sale Festival’ and entering into a partnership with Thailands leading online food review channel STARVINGTIME. This milestone marked Grab’s success beyond just ride-hailing, making on-demand food delivery an integral and indispensable part of Thai people’s lives.

Starting from today to 2 June 2019, Grab together with over 200 participating merchant partners including Central Group’s Katsuya, McDonald’s, Texas Chicken, BonChon and Zaap Classic will reward consumers with the best food promotional deals. Top three GrabFood spenders will stand a chance to win a trip to their dream beach destination, Maldives.

“We wouldn’t have been able to achieve our amazing milestone of 4 million orders in 4 months without the warm support of our loyal customers, our partners in both government and private sectors, and most importantly, our everyday heroes – Grab’s delivery partners. Today, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to everyone for making Grab Thailand’s #1 food delivery platform, hence we are launching our Mega Sale Festival.” said Tarin Thaniyavarn, Country Head of Grab Thailand.

“As we plan to expand to at least 6 more cities this year, apart from Bangkok and Chiang Mai, we will continue to make on-demand food delivery accessible and inclusive for all Thais and visitors throughout the country. We will continue to empower more offline food merchants to come online and bring about higher income-earning opportunities for delivery partners across Thailand. For every Thai baht that you spend on GrabFood, we promise to give you the best value and serve you better everyday – be it offering the widest range of merchant partners to satisfy as many cravings as possible, or ensuring the highest quality and most well-loved food recommendations,” added Tarin.

Grab also announced today its partnership with STARVINGTIME to help consumers make more informed food choices when ordering via GrabFood. Starting today, consumers can choose a new in-app food category called “STARVINGTIME Recommends’ which pulls together the top food recommendations based on STARVINGTIME food gurus’ most honest reviews. Similarly, followers on STARVINGTIME Facebook, Instagram, and website can also now satisfy their cravings straight away through one simple click at the end of the review to order food from their chosen merchant directly via the Grab app. Going forward, consumers can look forward to an even wider range of STARVINGTIME recommended food choices gradually coming on board GrabFood, and an in-app widget integrating STARVINGTIME food reviews to enable faster ordering.

“We know that today’s consumers, especially young millennials, are hardcore foodies. They rely a lot on online food gurus and reviews to find out the hottest or newest food recommendation and trend in town. But often, it’s a hassle having to jostle with the crowd and queue for hours for these most highly recommended food choices that everyone wants to try. Our partnership with STARVINGTIME will bring these top food merchant recommendations online and consumers can easily order their food cravings and have them delivered to wherever they are via GrabFood. This collaboration not only benefits GrabFood consumers who can now have an even wider range of top food choices, but also STARVINGTIME followers who can now easily satisfy their cravings right after reading a review – no queues needed!” said Tarin.

“We are excited to partner with GrabFood, the #1 most popular choice of consumers. With more than 6 million followers on our social media network that reaches more than 20 million viewers each month, STARVINGTIME is undoubtedly a leader among Thailand’s online food reviewers. After 6 years of creating the most honest and trustworthy food review content for our followers, we want to take a step further and see if our food reviews translate to concrete business outcomes for these food merchants. We believe that Grab will help us realize our goal as our followers can now satisfy their cravings straight away through one simple click at the end of the review to order food from the merchant directly via the GrabFood app,”  said Kaseamsak Siriraksa, Chief Executive Officer of STARVINGTIME.

“Through Grab’s extensive consumer reach not only in Thailand, but across Southeast Asia, we believe we can bring STARVINGTIME’s food reviews and recommendations to an even larger audience, including tourists visiting Thailand, to cater to their local Thai food cravings. This aligns with what we hope to achieve when we founded STARVINGTIME, making EATING a BIG THING for everyone and helping offline Thai food merchants extend their reach online to today’s highly mobile and digital consumers. Having a super app partner like Grab is the best route to achieve this,” added Kaseamsak.
