Mobile apps are now an integral part of helping us get to places. And for more than 19 million commuters across Southeast Asia, the Grab app moves people quickly around cities be it in taxis or cars. Wherever you go in the region — in 30 cities across 6 countries and counting — you’ll find Grab-powered vehicles, booking kiosks, event transport and airport pick-up stations to help you travel safely and with ease, supported by our 350,000 drivers.
Today we’re announcing that we’re taking the ubiquity of Grab in Southeast Asia up a notch by integrating the Grab service into Google Maps.
How will this work?
After keying in a destination in Google Maps, the app will offer Grab as part of the public transport options in a dedicated tab for ride-hailing services showing estimated pickup times, journey times and fares for GrabTaxi and GrabCar. This gives you the ability to compare and decide between walking, taking public transportation or hailing a Grab.
Our multiple transport services provides people more choices to travel at different price points. In addition, GrabCar offers fixed fares so you’ll have the assurance of a guaranteed fare that will not change regardless of route or traffic.
Selecting one of the Grab ride options on Google Maps will take you directly to the Grab app with your journey information pre-filled, allowing you to simply book a ride with the tap of a button. If you don’t already have the Grab app, you’ll be first asked if you would like to install it from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Grab’s service on the Google Maps app will be rolling out in August and available on Android and iOS mobile devices in 24 cities across 6 Southeast Asian countries:
