Save money and protect your privacy when you call from your Grab app

Instead of using minutes from your mobile phone plan, you can now call your Grab passengers using your mobile data and Wi-Fi connection. By doing so, you’ll save some money on your call charges and keep your contact details private at all times.

All you have to do is tap the Free Call button in your Grab Driver app as usual and the call will be done over the internet. Update your Grab Driver app and give it a try today!

Save money on your call charges

Calls are cheaper with data, so top up your mobile plan to include data. That way, you won’t have to worry about using up your mobile minutes whenever you call your passenger.

Your phone number will not be disclosed

Passengers won't be able to see your contact details (and you won't see theirs) when you make or receive a call on Grab. In case of poor internet connection, you’ll be prompted to make a phone call using a set of random digits* instead of your real phone number.

All calls will now be done via the internet instead of a regular phone call.

You and your passenger must be on the latest version of Grab Driver/Grab app for this feature to work.

If your internet is activated, your call will still be done over the internet. You will have the option to turn off your internet connection so you can make a call via your regular phone line (using your mobile minutes).

You will be able to call via your regular phone line.

At this time, Lost & Found calls (from History) will still be made over a phone call (via your regular phone line with number masking).

Your standard data roaming charges will apply. Please check with your telco service provider for data charges.

Your call will end. You can call again by tapping the Free Call button on the booking page. You should be connected via a regular phone call (call charges apply).

No, it is only available for Transport services at the moment. We are working to make this feature available for GrabExpress and GrabFood soon, so stay tuned!

‘Free call’ is being used to signify that you will not incur any charges on your phone call. However, regular data charges would apply.

We apologise for the inconvenience, however, we do not have the capability to allow switching back at this time. We recommend you to use this feature as it helps protect your phone number.
