At Grab, your safety is our utmost priority. As part of our regional safety efforts, we\u2019ll be adding an in-app Emergency button within your Grab app. This feature will be made available for all users by end June 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the unlikely event of an emergency during a Grab ride, you\u2019ll be able to request assistance or notify up to 3 emergency contacts in a single tap.

When and where can I use this Emergency feature?<\/span><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Emergency feature should only be used if you are in immediate danger<\/strong> while riding in a Grab vehicle, and are in urgent need of assistance.<\/p>\n

For example, if you and your driver are victims of road rage, are involved in a traffic accident, or in the event of a medical emergency.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tapping on ‘Notify Security’ will result in a call from a security company that will assess your situation. Unanswered calls may be escalated to the Police for investigation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Emergency feature can be used in all 8 countries in which Grab operates (Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam). <\/span><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> Tapping the \u2018Notify Security\u2019 button sends an alert to an <\/span>external security company<\/b>. The security company will attempt a callback to your Grab-registered mobile number, and if necessary, escalate the matter to <\/span>Police<\/b>. Please only use this button if there is an urgent need for assistance, e.g. if you or your driver are in danger.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What happens when I add an emergency contact?<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

A:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>He\/she will receive an SMS from Grab indicating that he\/she has been assigned as your emergency contact. If your emergency contact is a Grab user, he\/she may receive an in-app message instead of an SMS.<\/span><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> The Auto-alert feature allows your emergency contacts to receive an automatic SMS alert from Grab if an unusual ride pattern is detected. However, please note that this feature is currently in beta.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: How does Grab detect an \u2018unusual ride pattern\u2019?<\/b><\/p>\n

A:<\/strong> This is based on your previous ride behaviour, as well as the time and destination of your current ride (e.g. late night ride to a remote location). If Grab detects a ride with a potentially unusual pattern, an Auto-alert SMS will be triggered.
