Choosing where to eat sounds simple\u2014until you are faced with hundreds of restaurants, menus and reviews. In Malaysia, Grab\u2019s 5-Star Eats label helps hungry customers make a decision.<\/p>

Launched in March 2026 and endorsed by Tourism Malaysia, Grab 5-Star Eats became Malaysia\u2019s in-app food guide for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.<\/p>

Whether you are ordering at home or exploring a new city, the 5-Star Eats label within GrabFood makes trying somewhere new less of a gamble. It highlights merchants that meet quality standards based on signals such as top customer ratings, reviews, food quality and fulfilment reliability.<\/p>

Customers can browse restaurants by region and category, explore highly rated local favourites and navigate to dining destinations. With mobility and food services in one platform, Grab can help travellers decide where to eat\u2014and get there too.<\/p>

Even if the Grab app isn\u2019t your food discovery tool of choice: You can still use the 5-Star Eats label as a guide. Together with Malaysia\u2019s tourism board, we\u2019re creating opportunities to showcase local food heritage in the form of digital food guides and tell the stories of the merchants and communities behind the restaurants, giving local food businesses greater visibility. Highly rated small and medium-sized merchants can be recognised as places worth visiting, connecting customer recommendations with Malaysia\u2019s wider gastrotourism ambitions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This is one example of what 5-Star Eats can achieve when it connects local communities, tourism partners and real customer experiences, and we\u2019re bringing this experience to other GrabFood markets in Southeast Asia.<\/span><\/p>

How we got here: One shared standard for Southeast Asia<\/h5>

5-Star Eats and similar labels that recognised top GrabFood merchants were developed individually across our GrabFood markets.<\/p>

Now we\u2019re standardising it across the region, introducing a common baseline for what it means to earn the label. In some markets, there may be additional standards to reflect different expectations and food culture, keeping the programme locally relevant while giving the label a more consistent meaning across Grab.<\/p>

What\u2019s next for 5-Star Eats?<\/h5>

Earning the label is not a one-time achievement. The list is curated and updated periodically, so merchants need to keep delivering strong food, service and fulfillment to stay on it. In other words, merchants have to do the work\u2014not just make the list once.<\/p>

Some countries may feature local food guides or curated restaurant collections. In Malaysia and the Philippines\u2014and soon, Singapore\u2014customers can vote for their favourite restaurants across different categories, with winners receiving a special label on their Grab store pages.Thailand will continue using its established Grab Thumbs Up branding while aligning with the broader quality direction.<\/p>

One goal is to make 5-Star Eats restaurants and special audience award winners more discoverable on the internet, outside of the Grab app. Stay tuned for updates on our new 5-Star Eats web hub.<\/p>
