To make those pauses feel more predictable, we built a GrabMaps feature for driver-partners that shows a live countdown on the navigation screen, estimating how long the light will stay red or green.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1fa44e4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1fa44e4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5>How it works<\/h5><p>The feature combines historical signal patterns with real-time traffic inputs to learn typical signal cycles for each junction. Predictive models then estimate how long the current phase is likely to last .It updates its predictions continuously as fresh data arrives. It prioritises reliability and will not show a countdown in case the available data is noisy or inconsistent.<\/p><p>We first piloted this feature among a small number of cities in Southeast Asia. Early feedback indicated that driver-partners felt more informed and less stressed with the countdown visible. Building on those results, we began a phased rollout in Manila, where the feature is now available across roughly 500 intersections.<\/p><h5>Rollout plans<\/h5><p>We are looking to roll this out to even more traffic junctions in Manila before launching this across more countries.
