\u201cBagels\u201d and \u201canalytics\u201d may not seem like words that go together in the same sentence, but Monty\u2019s by Roast<\/a> proves there\u2019s room for tech and data in a brick-and-mortar business.<\/p>

Last year, the restaurant\u2014which specializes in Montreal-style sourdough bagels\u2014won Thailand\u2019s GrabFood Thumbs Up Award for being the best at optimizing using GrabFood data. This year, Monty\u2019s is opening a new branch, which will serve as its flagship store.<\/p>

Launched in 2021, the shop joined Grab in May of the same year.<\/p>

The Business Review section of Grab\u2019s merchant app gives Monty\u2019s market insights, information on customer demographics, upselling opportunities, and insights on menu keywords.<\/p>

Market insights include information on customer preferences, helping point the restaurant in the right direction in terms of what kind of items to serve. Their Salmon Bomb bagel, for instance, is something they created based on insights into what customers liked. According to Monty\u2019s, they learned about trending bagel flavors and fillings that customers typically order.<\/p>

Customer demographics tell the team who their customers are and where they\u2019re located. Information on ways to upsell clues the restaurant in on possible add-on items to offer and which menu items to highlight to help boost sales. Keyword insights help it optimize the words used on the menu so customers can find the items more easily through Grab\u2019s search function.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Growing with Grab: boosted sales, better decisions\u00a0<\/h5>

According to Monty\u2019s, optimizing its menu based on customer preferences and tapping on upselling opportunities has led to a 230 per cent increase in sales.<\/p>

Customer location data also helped the team evaluate potential locations for their new branch, making sure their expansion reaches their target customers effectively.<\/p>

Aside from using GrabFood analytics, being on the Grab platform has \u201cunlocked exciting opportunities for Monty\u2019s,\u201d says Hatairak Nuntiya, Monty\u2019s Brand Manager. \u201cWe’ve seen increased visibility and accessibility for our delicious bagels, reaching a wider audience of bagel lovers across Bangkok. This expansion into the online platform has allowed us to not only continue serving our loyal customers but also attract new ones.\u201d<\/p>

The restaurant\u2019s current branch at theCOMMONS in Bangkok\u2019s Thonglor district is perhaps a victim of its own success.\u00a0<\/p>

Monty\u2019s bagels are baked fresh every day in a central kitchen off-site. \u201cSometimes our bagels sell out quickly, particularly around lunchtime, and it can be difficult to restock in time due to limited storage space at the branch,\u201d says Nuntiya.\u00a0<\/p>

But with a new flagship store on the horizon, Monty\u2019s will have more space to grow: \u201cOur mission is to share the joy of Monty\u2019s bagels far and wide, aspiring to become the top bagel destination in Thailand. This new location will offer both dine-in and delivery, with an open kitchen concept that showcases the art of bagel-making.
