Wrapping up 2021 with GrabRentals

Amid the uncertainties, 2021 was a special year for us as GrabRentals turned five. There is no doubt that the past two years have been difficult for our hirer-partners with the implementation of various COVID restrictions, which is why we want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of our journey. As the year draws to a close, let’s take a moment to look back and reflect on key events and what to expect for 2022!

A Wrap Up of Key Events in 2021

1. 2021 GrabRentals Journey

Earlier in December, we created a customised snapshot of all of our GrabRentals hirer-partners’ journeys, along with details such as your rental tenure, GRNavigate status, Grab Driver rating & favourite pick-up areas.

We hope that you have enjoyed this snapshot of your #2021GrabRentalsJourney, and we look forward to making more memories together in 2022!

2. GrabRentals’ 5th Anniversary

2021 was a special year for another reason – GrabRentals turned five!

Although we couldn’t meet all of our hirer-partners face-to-face, we had a virtual Facebook Live celebration where we had a fun-filled afternoon packed with activities, such as our Lucky Draw, and gave away prizes worth up to $4,800 to our hirer-partners!

To commemorate this occasion, GrabRentals also partnered with Fullerton Health to offer 500 complimentary flu vaccines to our hirer-partners. Many of our hirer-partners volunteered and joined us in delivering grocery packs to various beneficiaries.

Mark, a hirer-partner who has been with GrabRentals for more than four years, said that he found these events meaningful as he got to give back to society and lend a helping hand alongside his driver-friends and the wider community!

3. Covid-19 Support Measures

2020 and 2021 proved to be especially tough for our hirer-partners as demand for rides fell sharply due to the various lockdowns.

To support our hirer-partners, GrabRentals put various forms of assistance in place, such as rental rebates, lowering rental rates, and creating additional earning opportunities through deliveries. We also provided rental waivers for hirer-partners who had to serve Quarantine Orders or Stay Home Notices.

4. New Launches

GRNavigate

GrabRentals revamped our loyalty programme; GRNavigate, to further reward you for your loyalty and thank you for your support. Eligible partners will now be rewarded with points known as “wheels” that can be redeemed for various items, ranging from Grab driver credits to retail vouchers.

GrabRentals Motorbike Ownership Programme

Apart from GRNavigate, we also launched our GrabRentals Motorbike Ownership Programme, which allows Grab’s delivery-partners to become proud owners of their own motorbike. We designed the scheme around the needs of our delivery-partners so that the experience of buying a motorbike is affordable and hassle-free.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Basic, Standard & Enhanced

We know that accidents are costly, even with excess coverage. Following feedback from many of our hirer-partners, we introduced CDW at three different price points to better suit your needs. Hirer-partners who opt into the CDW scheme will see accident excess reduced by 93%, no more hefty costs.

Vehicle Damage Protection (VDP)

We have also extended our Vehicle Damage Protection Scheme to hirer-partners on open and three-month contracts to help you defray vehicle damage costs. This means that all of our hirer-partners can now rent with peace of mind.

New GrabRentals Car Wrap and Merchandise

Hirer-partners who have opted into our car wrap scheme will be able to see our new and improved car wrap design! Our car wrap scheme is available to hirer-partners who are on at least a 12-month contract, where you can enjoy an additional $90/month if you opt in for the car wrap.

We have also distributed GrabRentals merchandise, from seatbelt covers to handphone charging cables, free of charge to our hirer-partners.

With 2022 just around the corner, we will continue to focus on serving our hirer-partners to the best of our abilities. The GrabRentals team remains committed to providing you with quality rental support and being with you every step of the way.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
