FAQs

From 7 April to 4 May, all drivers will be getting a top-up of $20 (for new hirer-partners and existing hirer-partners on regular contract) or $15 (for existing hirer-partners on ‘No-Frills’ contract) to their credit wallet on a daily basis. This is automatically applied and therefore no opt-in is necessary.

This is an opt-in scheme where we will apply a $14 or $10 daily rental deferment (depending on your contract type) for the first 6 months, and collect back the deferred amount in the subsequent 6 months.

For hirer-partners with less than 12 months valid contract balance, you will be required to do a contract extension until Apr 2021.

Here’s an illustration for an existing hirer-partner on regular contract who has chosen to extend his/her contract till Apr 2021:

Here’s an example:

Mr Chua signed a 6-month contract with GrabRentals on 14 Apr 2020 at a $51.95 daily rental rate. He collected his car on 15 Apr 2020. He is eligible to defer $14 of his daily rental for 3 months (to be paid back subsequently in the following 3 months), and also enjoys $20 rental waiver till 4 May 2020.

Yes, lease-to-own hirer-partners are considered as being on a regular contract.

In partnership with LTA, we’ve obtained approval for ALL our vehicles to carry out GrabFood and GrabExpress deliveries! Our cars are already covered with valid insurance so that our Hirer-Partners can start delivering as soon as possible to supplement your earnings. Find out more info on how to sign-up here.

Hirers are screened through our internal credit scoring system which has an element on history of payment defaults. If you had defaulted in your payment to GrabRentals and had gotten a message regarding your outstanding payment due, you will not be eligible for the deferment programme. You may appeal through grabrentals.sg@grab.com and we will attend to your request as soon as we can.

The team at GrabRentals is adapting to the environment and are working hard to ensure that we protect your needs as much as we can. Together with Grab, we are offering 0% commissions on Grab rides, exclusively for Main-Hirers from GrabRentals.  We have also offered 30% rental waivers for 1 month (up to $20 daily) and 20% rental deferment for 6 months (up to $14 daily).

To further support your earnings, we’ve also activated your accounts for GrabFood & GrabExpress deliveries given the increased demand during this period.

GrabRentals works to be a sustainable business to serve you better. Thank you for showing your support during this period. Together, we can overcome this.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
