GrabFood Beta Phase – Walkers

Thank you for joining as a delivery-partner for the Beta Launch of GrabFood. Here’s what you need to know during this phase.

  1. Change your phone settings to ‘Display always on’ to avoid missing out orders in the event your phone goes to sleep.
  2. Make sure your GrabFood Driver app is always updated- we fix bugs regularly based on Beta feedback.
  3. To do deliveries in another district, you will have to end session and then log in at the new zone you want to do deliveries in.
  4. No demand in your area? Find the nearest McDonalds!

GrabFood Merchants are now available in the following area

Downtown CBD | Orchard Road | Bugis | Farrer Park

Hourly Guarantee: Up to $9/hr

The Hourly Guarantee incentive scheme promises a level of income despite the ups and downs in demand that are beyond your control. It means you are rewarded for staying online to serve Eaters, even when demand levels or quality may not be optimum.

As you have declared that your mode of delivery will be on foot, you will be entitled to the following incentives from 21 May (Monday) to 27 May (Sunday). No commission!

Incentives will be credited into your Cash Wallet in your Driver App the following day, 9am. Don’t forget, you can cash out on the daily!

Example 1:

  • Delivery-partner Mr Tan is online from 11AM to 2PM on Saturday and has completed 2 trips to earn $12 (2 trips x $6).
  • How does this scheme work?
    • Because Mr Tan kept his app turned on and completed 2 trips between 11AM and 2PM, therefore despite low demand, he’s still eligible to earn a minimum earning of $27 ($9/hr x 3hrs).
    • Grab tops up the difference of $15 ($27 – $12)!

Example 2:

  • Delivery-partner Mr Lee was online from 6PM to 8.15PM (2hrs 15min) on Tuesday. During this time, he completed 2 trips and earned $12 (2 trips x $6).
  • How does this scheme work?
    • Earnings are pro-rated by minute.
    • As the total earnings guaranteed for this time block is $9/hr, this works out to $0.15/min ($9 per hour / 60min per hour).
    • Therefore, Mr Lee is guaranteed a minimum of $20.25 ($9/hr x 2h = $18 + $0.15/min x 15 mins = $2.25)
  • Grab tops up the difference of $8.25 ($20.25 – $12)!

Make sure you satisfy the following criteria to qualify for your incentives:
Acceptance rate (AR)
per time block:
above 80%
Online hours per time block:
Min. 1hr during Peak

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
