What is GrabHitch?

GrabHitch is a SOCIAL carpooling service that allows you to “tumpang” someone who is going the same way as you. You access it through the Grab Passenger app and you can use it as a ‘GO-HOME’ feature!

Since you are a GrabCar driver with a PDVL and a PHV car, you can drive on GrabHitch and complete as many trips a day as you want. The 2 trips a day regulation DOES NOT APPLY to you because you
are a commercial driver!

Picking up a Hitch Rider

GrabHitch allows you to CHOOSE your rider! Unlike GrabCar, you are not automatically allocated with a rider. There are three ways you can choose your rider:

1. Creating a Route (Advanced Bookings)

  • Create a route in advance (at least 10 minutes before leaving) and choose which rider from the list.

  • Choose a rider instantly: QuickHitch allows you to pick from a list of riders who are requesting a ride from a nearby location.

  • Just like GrabCar, GrabHitch’s newest feature allows you to pick up riders in real-time, while you’re on the road!

FAQ

When you drive on GrabHitch, you will have to bear the cost of ERP. You can ask the Hitch Rider before accepting the booking if he/she will be willing to incur the additional fees. However, should your Hitch Rider be unwilling to do so, please do not insist nor resort to any rude or threatening behaviour!

Yes you may do multiple pickups per trip on the way to your intended destination with minimum detour. However, you must check with all of your Hitch Riders if they are comfortable to ride with other Hitch Riders and importantly, the expected delay in each of their arrival time. Nobody likes to be shocked so please give them all a heads up!

Each booking may have more than one pax. Hitch Riders should indicate in their booking how many people are with them, so that you can decide if you’re comfortable before accepting the booking and plan your seating capacity accordingly. However, you will still be paid per booking regardless of the number of seats requested, so please don’t charge more!

All GrabHitch rides are insured!

Income, AIG , MSIG and Aviva have confirmed that personal motor insurance purchased from them will be able to cover GrabHitch rides*, as we are considered a social carpooling platform, and not for hire or reward. We are in the midst of confirming with more insurers.

Please be reminded that we have a zero-tolerance policy regarding all infringements and violations of this Code of Conduct and the Driver acknowledges that this may result in suspension or termination of user access to the Grab platform.

GRAB RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PENALIZE, THROUGH (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO) ACCOUNT DEACTIVATION, WITHHOLDING/ REDUCTION/ FORFEIT OF DRIVER INCENTIVES/ CREDITS, SUSPENSION OR PERMANENT BANNING TO ANY DRIVER WHO VIOLATES OUR CODE OF CONDUCT. OFFENDERS AGAINST THE LAW WILL BE REPORTED ACCORDINGLY TO THE AUTHORITIES.

General Penalties are as follow:

A Booking & Cancellation Offenses Temporary suspension
B Offenses concerning Fares and Payments Temporary suspension
C Gaming & Fraud Offenses Up to $1,000 fine AND permanent ban
D & E Passenger Experience, Safety or Security Offences Permanent ban and legal action taken based on Company’s discretion

You’ll be able to view the payment mode indicated by Hitch Riders in the booking request – Cash or GrabPay (credit card).

For Cash, simply collect the cash amount from your Hitch Rider upon dropping off, ensuring you’ve sufficient change. For GrabPay, your earnings will be credited directly into your digital driver wallet. You may choose to cash out credits in your wallet at any time. Simply provide us with your bank account details the first time you request to cash out. Do expect up to 10 working days for the cash out amount to be reflected in your bank account.

Please note that your Hitch Driver Wallet is different from your GrabCar Driver Wallet.
